I have a medical problem myself..
Have been getting rather bad metatarsalgia over the head of the first metatarsal, associated with shooting pain all the way down the big toe between the metatarsal space and associated with numbness. Although the location is a tad unusual, I am afraid I might have Morton's neuroma. Might be related to the 30 minute walk each day from my house to the hospital with my laptop in tow...
I understand the differentials will be a bursitis or a ganglion in the region with inflammation and irritation of adjacent nerves but the pain I have is definitely neuritic..
Question I have is: apart of orthotics (I have pes planus and have a past history of talipes equinovarus corrected at birth), what would be the most appropriate analgesic? I also had a past history of duodenal ulcer and so I am not too keen for systemic NSAIDs. I am going for some local analgesic in the meantime.
Whilst I can prescribe in the UK, I need a GP referral to see a podiatrist and the next available appointment is at least 9 months away! -
Yeah, can see that you are suffering from one of the most wicked pain of all... neural... Well, according to what I usually heard from any specialist irregardless of any field, they would go for Tramadol (those local analgesics) that you are having to arrest the pain, but seemingly such analgesics take a rather long time to have an effect.Originally posted by oxford mushroom:Reno and all:

Local corticosteroid injection is definitely out of the question since you will only get that done by a GP or an orthopedist, and I guess that goes for the opiate groups as well.
May I suggest one of those group of medications that combines the paracetamol together with codeine as it has a two way effect in inhibiting pain, though it may be rather habit-forming, but I think it's the best bet you can get... Vicodin... -

Hey Doc, this morning i woke up and turned my head.. suddenly i hear a loud crack sound.. den the area behind my neck becomes damn painful.. till now i cannot anyhow turn or else a sharp pain will come back again.. anyway to cure it?

A loud crack sound suggests the possibility of involvement of bones and joints, and probably a nerve as well. Restricted neck movement can also mean that it is muscular in origin, but I doubt the pain is that sharp and involves any cracking sound. If muscles are involved, probably due to poor sleeping positioning, the pain would resolve faster compared to the ones above and would respond to simple painkillers, such as analgesic creams applied on the site of pain.
However the thing is, the muscular involvement type of pain usually appears on the sides of your neck, where it goes into spasm from probably too long a period in maintaining a single posture or straining it. Your pain that occurs at the back of your neck makes bony involvement more likely. Hence, I would advise you to get it checked up. -

What is the normal white blood cell count?
My friend got admitted to hospital and the report says the white blood cell count is 21000. Like very high leh. I learn in biology that the ratio is 1:500.
She is discharged liao.
Also, she has fever and diarrhoea.
The symptoms remind me of leukemia.
Does discharging means that there is nothing wrong?
