I prefer the first part that talks about Li Hongzhang. He was really a great man. The Japanese PM, i think called Yito, also respected him a lot.
Yito once said,' I am only an ordinary man fortunately born in a extraordinary country, but Lord Li is an extraordinary man unfortunately born in a sunset country."
Some parts were really touching that i tear...
Eg:- the part where China was invaded by the 8 countries alliances. Others were using modern canons, rifle, and China was still using knifes?! In the end, got to give up Taiwan, Penghu, Macau, HK to others... heartpain...
After Lord Li, the attention turned to Yuan Shi Kai and Sun Zhongsun.. that part not as good... -

the trumpet at the beginning of the show is annoying. the show starts to get boring after Li's death. -

cixi was really horrible.
she blamed everyone except herself for all the things that had gone wrong.
she took away gongqingwang's daughter and made her a princess.
she took away the chunwangye's son and made him emperor guangxu.
she took away the next chunwangye's son and made him emperor xuantong.
guangxu is really pitiful. he wanted to outlive cixi so he can finally be an emperor with power. but he did not make it. -

Pu Yi was an 'emperor', that he was allowed to live in the Forbidden City till he was removed I think in 1924(?), but after 1911, he lost his power.

I dunnoe, but many labelled Li as a traitor because he was the one who signed the treaties (and giving out pieces of China away).
