That day i was browsing the FB ads and then i saw this page called Daily Rantz and saw one of the post,

Should Chinese PRCs learn to speak English to blend in with us or should we touch on to our Mother Tongue?BTW, the page is giving $300 just by ranting. Good thing must share la!

Why chinese in Singapore must use colonial english language to speak in Singapore?
English was the language used by colonial elites like the peranakans and eurasians, meaning people like Harry Lee Kuan Yew and Michael Palmer. This is the legacy of british colonialism that has not been eradicated in Singapore. We are still "trapped" in a colonial system.
I think that is wrong.

Our ancestors can be from China in the past. But we can't be oweing them our present and future lives forever. PRC people would take advantage of you once they know your weakness. Like the old saying goes, "When in ROME, do as ROMANS do"...if Singaporean are working in PRC, needless to say, they will try their very best to blend into their society by having to speak Mandarin first. Only those low-cultured exported PRC workers failed to respect the country that they came to work in. As such, they do not know how to respect others culture.

Uncle is not wrong to say that. Unlike China, Singapore is a multiracial society. The PRC should not be unrealistic or even arrogant to expect other race like Malay, INdian, Eurasian and others to understand Chinese. English which is an international language is the medium for communication. If PRC refuse to communicate and learn English to communicate then they can jolly well go home and don't work or study here.
To that Dalforce, you are a die-hard pain in the arse anti English jerk. If you are full of hatred for the English and the English language then stop posting in English. Use your "superior" Chinese to post here and see if the non Chinese understand what you post. I am not sure where your brain is located, seems that you are so ...................... out of the world.................... Please leave Singapore and migrate to China or Taiwan. In China and Taiwan, you will have no problem as generally there the people use Chinese to communicate. As a Singaporean if you fail to see why English is needed you are not fit to live here.

That is not PAP's propaganda, that is being pragmatic/down to earth and adapt to environment and need. It is the same across the board throughout the globe.
Are you expecting a Vietnamese working in Singapore to speak to you in Vietnamese when serving you as a customer?

If pragmatic and down to earth means mandarin is the dominant language of Singapore since chinese is almost 75% of Singapore. It is also a neutral language as it is not the mother tongue language of any group in Singapore.
