I was on the train to work one morning. As usual, trains after 6am will be crowded like mad. I was sitting down. This young girl was infront of me standing among the crowd. Instead, she shaked her head and continue standing. And this fat indian man quickly rushed over and take my seat. People were all staring at me when they realized I wasnt getting down with the "you are so crazy, more crazy than paying $7.20 for a packet of M&M" look.
At first I thought cos she was getting down soon, ended up, she got down more than 10 stops after that. I looked at her in the window reflection after the indian man sat down, she was smiling, but dunno at who.
I wasnt angry la, just a little unhappy. In the end I stood all the way to my workplace for nothing.
Oh yea, after rereading your post, I suddenly realized I got similar experience before lolz.
I was in a very crowded MRT during the peak hour in the morning, then I saw this guy who has a broken leg still bandaged and he was trying to balance himself on his crutch. He was standing quite faraway from me, I can still see him but there were a lot of people between my seat and his. I couldn't understand how can those people sitting directly in front of him could stand not getting up and offering him his seat. The poor guy nearly fell and lost his footing when the MRT went through a rough part of the rail.
I was about to stand up to give my seat to him then this auntie in front of me like couldn't wait for me to stand up and get away and could see she definitely would take the seat instead of the poor guy with the broken leg...so in the end I decided to stay put >.< I felt very guilty though, but don't know how to alert him to take the seat leh.

Next time, ask before you give up the sit. The Indian man how old? If senior citizens then nevermind.
If not then he might not understand Chinese and thought you are alighting that's why you are giving up the seat.
Anyway, it's gentleman enough of you though.

There are times when I give up my seats to elderly but they insist that they do not want to sit down. But I still stand up anyway......
