Yesterday two new custom-made stainless steel springs for my final year project experiments arrived.
I requested them to have an external diameter of16mm with tolerances of -0.3mm and +0.1mm. In short, any external diameter between 15.7mm and 16.1mm would be acceptable to me.... anything more or less than that would cause too much error.
The springs arrived and I measured them with vernier calipers..... the external diameter was 16.67mm.
That error is too large for me.... now I have to reorder and wait two weeks for them to arrive.
#$^%$#*@.......
engineers
pffftt
Bananas.
Pffftttt.
wah...i did precison engineering as a part time work
once u are used to doing such stuff..difference of 0.02mm is very clear
wonder how could they make such a big mistake of .67mm?
maybe u order from somewhere else
scientist
pfffttttt
ah lua
pffftttt.
in precision engineering, that would be shoddy workmanship right?
pup, miss u sia

I'm not asking for such a high precision of 0.02mm.... else the springs would be very expensive.
As it is tolerances of -0.3mm and +0.1mm are already pretty loose in my opinion.... pretty pissed that they could make such a large error.

Well, I only know of a couple of companies that can custom-make small orders of springs.
Oh well.... at least my department is footing the bill.
due to the company mistake, is your deadline pushed back?
The mistake really like quite serious, what are the 'higher-up' comments?
