Seriously, I'd give your doc a good berating for not doing his research properly. I can agree that some people with malfunctioning nerves may get tinnitus which can eventually lead to deafness.
That said, your friendly neighbourhood GP simply cannot make that sort of diagnosis without more specialised equipment. As you can see from the article, there are many different causes of tinnitus, ranging from exposure to loud noise to medications. You need to see a proper ENT specialist who can decide what is causing the tinnitus.

Said I could not visit loud and noisy places too often. So clubbing and concerts are out for me, most of the time. Not that I would go anywae... but its still something you guys should take care not to get exposed too much to. Else being deaf will be faster than you expected.
