Where's Firefox heading to?

  Argh... just looked at the proposal for Firefox 3, it required Gnome if you are using Linux.
  
  Gnome is just a GUI, what for I need it?
  
  Another organization heading the Microsoft way... thinking that users will be using the latest state-of-art equipment.
