How sucky is project work?

Sigh. Its just the start and problems are already surfacing. The seniors say its all about meeting datelines and learning how to work in a group. if i have to work hard for my grade, i will, even if it means sacrifacing sleep just to meet the tight deadlines. im willing to commit and work hard but why wont my group members do that too?
so far, we didnt manage to do anything every pw session. i can tell that out of the five of us, only the two of us are more serious about pw. the other one might participate but the other two guys just cant and wont work. they either digress and talk about other things, or do childish stuff like shooting rubber bands at each other and snatching each other's stuff.
first was the deciding of who to be the leader and the secretary. i think its right and logical to choose the one whom you think is capable of the role instead of sabo-ing and shooting any random person anyhow. it took just three sessions for us to do that and we only did that when i called for a vote to be done to settle this once and for all. can you imagine how far behind now that we have wasted so much time?
then was discussion. the rest would talk about other stuff and before we knew it times up and we havent settled anything. i tried to get the rest back into the discussion but after a while, the two guys would digress again and we're back to square one. its really exasperating. i dont dare to tell them in a more than gentle tone to get back to discussion cos i dont want to strain our friendship and appear too domineering.
lots of things are due soon and i really dont know how to get the group focused on our task and get going. if uni's all about projects, i dont know how ill survive. -
i suppose your in Secondary School, things get much worst in Poly, don't worry about the secretary, roles and such. You only need a leader, just assign duties, and allow no refute.
If they refuse to participate, just grade them strictly -
Wait till you get a job.
Where I am now, the project was slated for completion last october. Its almost may now, and we're nowhere complete. -

not eberyone is there for da grade, nor as responsible as u.

Take this as training for future project work in university and the workplace.
There will always be freeloaders and irresponsible group members who just want to skive and shirk their responsibilities. Most of the time anyway.
That was my experience virtually every single time I had to do group work. -

PW in JC is 101% lame.
Its useless coz you learn nothing at all... Its just ending up writing a stupid presentation and everyone takes turn to present. Research is so simple with google and wiki. In Jc you are given like 1yr to complete the PW but for my group we ended up rushing in the last 1-2weeks. Still got a good grade...lol.

some neighbourhood jcs are capable of having over 50% As for PW. that is like godlike. and some prestigious ones in contrast got only 0.5% As =.= -

ok with cooperative members at least we managed to complete one of our first tasks but communication remains a problem. its hard to reject others' idea and raise up their cons without offending or causing some tension.as more uptight memeber i dont mind doing more work but im afraid of overdoing it then the rest wouldnt have anything to do or my ideas become dominant, which is not good since this is a group effort
