Implications do matter, just like looks.Originally posted by rainee:my manager called me in for a meeting with him just now..
told me not to tell this kinda thing to my students...
i told him i never told them the diploma is useless, i said it will definitely be more helpful if they have the diploma to accompany their secondary school certs since they didnt do well there...then i asked my manager, like this say is wrong meh?
but you did help them. your conscience is clearOriginally posted by rainee:how do you know they will appreciate it?
i tot they appreciate it, cos one of them specially bought me a bag full of cookies yesterday...
then didnt know she was also one of the students who complained against me just now...
my colleague actually told me to say this to my students yesterday. said dun get involved with all this kinda thing, later you will get yourself into deep sh!t. Cos he has experience with this kinda stuff already in his previous working place...Originally posted by CoolMyth:It's their problem. Not your business.
dunno la, like this dunno how to help them liao, cos they are asking me questions i cant answer. i asked them to go and contact those universities themselves to get the answer, they asked me to pity them and said they do not know how to write an e-mail inquiring about this kinda thing...Originally posted by Herzog_Zwei:Implications do matter, just like looks.
Sometimes, human actions do not match what the mind is trying to do. Dun worry, with more experience, this kind of thing shall not happen too often again.Originally posted by rainee:my colleague actually told me to say this to my students yesterday. said dun get involved with all this kinda thing, later you will get yourself into deep sh!t. then i guess i want to be helpful to my students and when they came to me to ask for advice, i tried my best to give them...didnt know they will misunderstand...
but hard leh, cos they are my students and they kept pestering me to answer their questions...Originally posted by Gackt247:One of the most frequently used full-proof saying in life: Mind your own business.
yea la, but from now on tink i will be more reluctant to help them liaozOriginally posted by anhydrouscoppersulphate:but you did help them. your conscience is clear
dunno la, maybe i use some words that cause them to misunderstand me...Originally posted by CoolMyth:Sometimes, human actions do not match what the mind is trying to do. Dun worry, with more experience, this kind of thing shall not happen too often again.
In the end, just remember this: Do not allow irresponsible people make you feel responsible for their actions.Originally posted by rainee:dunno la, maybe i use some words that cause them to misunderstand me...
yea hopefully wun happen again, next time i will just direct them to my manager or assistant manager when they have this kinda queries
yea true.Originally posted by fudgester:In the end, just remember this: Do not allow irresponsible people make you feel responsible for their actions.
You are responsible for your own actions only. In the end, if you've done your part and did your best to help others, then you would have done the right thing. If they insist on biting the hand that feeds them, then that's their problem. They would just have to learn the hard way that to bit the hand that feeds you is an easy way to get your teeth broken off.
Do not let their lack of conscience trouble you... just keep your conscience clear.
With reference to the words in red, I sense that you still somewhat feel responsible for them should they blame you for their failure.Originally posted by rainee:yea true.
i will just choose to ignore them. anyway they wun be in my class for long le. i just hope they will pass their exams, if not they will most definitely blame me as well
can't help feeling responsible haiz...Originally posted by fudgester:With reference to the words in red, I sense that you still somewhat feel responsible for them should they blame you for their failure.
The bottom line is simple: don't. Just teach them as well as you can and to the best of your efforts. In the end, whether or not they pass their exams depends heavily on their efforts. As long as you've put in the effort, then you've done your part.
If they choose not to do their part and blame you for it, then to heck with 'em.
They are grown men and women now... if they're THAT irresponsible, then I can't help but feel sorry for them.
Depending on badly they screw things up for me, I might use my rank to do something about it.(like almost causing me to lose life and limb pranks.)Originally posted by fudgester:Think I've said this before... but never mind....
As a medic, I've helped many people before during NS. Injuries out in the field, in camp, you name it.... I've come to the aid of people with all sorts of ailments ranging from minor cuts to life-threatening heatstroke.
And were all of them grateful? Sadly, no. Some of them would bully me week in, week out just because I was the only JC student around without the rank of 3SG. In their eyes, all JC students = elites = must-bully-that-guy....
But do I hate them? Frankly speaking, no. Their lack of conscience doesn't worry me at all. If they want to bully some fella who has put in so much effort into helping them, then that's their problem.
When I finally got my 3SG rank, they all got cold feet and started leaving me alone, knowing that I could now exact revenge on them. Did I do so? No. Because if I did, I would be no better than any of them.
In the end, my conscience is clear, and what I believe is that when the time comes for me to face God, I can honestly say that I did the right thing in this respect.
I still refuse to hate those buggers.
I just pity them for their lack of conscience, that's all.
