  this 2007 version.. if i send files to maybe...2003 version or others... they can open it right?

  Can, but you must be save the file in that version. Otherwise, people can't open your files...

  Those who don't have MS Office, and hate the big download of OO, use Thinkfree Viewer.

  which sucks coz you can have the latest version, you have all the bells and whistles, then send it to others, they cannot open

  Unsure, just save in Office XP version... I'm pretty sure most are using Office XP.

  Very easy actually. Just rename it to .rtf

  MS Office is a separate entity... never will computers ever come with MS Office.
  
  You will only find such good deals in Linux.
