Still must play with Linux some more, I don't have this knowledge.
Not just this, must be nice looking. Linux where got so good?

How I don't know. And still must integrate well with Linux built-in firewall, the IP tables. Must have fancy GUI also, so administrators can just click click click and done. -

Nope.
Rather, it will be a tool that informs you that somebody is scanning your ports, find the attacker's IP address and block him by using the firewall.
Also, will have to ping him back. -

Relax. I've been thru it last sem. 1 week, total not more den 35 hrs of sleep. Sometimes even lesser.
I think you can request for a change in project. Individual or Group?

You can do it....but may need some time to learn the stuff, etc..
Do you have 1 year to do the project also? Maybe can ask your seniors or professor/supervisors if they have any good notes, papers, books to read up on... or borrow related thesis from previous FYP students doing the same thing. -
anti port scan is to prevent malicious attacks to your computer from the internet.
basically you can complete the project using one word-firewall
yea serious, firewall can do so.. other means.. i dont know
