What is wrong with this auntie?

  i was on my way home after buying breakfast.
  
  i was in the lift with an auntie. i noticed she was going up to the 13th floor and casually asked if her unit is on the left or right side.
  
  to my shock, she said, "why are you asking? i dont tell people such things!!!"
  
  knn, how skeptical or rude can anyone be?
  
  what did she have in mind? that i have ulterior motives???

  even though she was going up to the 13th floor, her unit could be on the 12th, 13th, 14th or 15th floor. all i asked was whether her unit is on the left or right, not which unit or which floor specifically.
  
  frankly, i dont even know which floor she is staying!!!
  
  if i am a tikopek with ulterior motives, do i need to ask her where she is living? i could just follow her isnt it?
  
  and she is not the first or only person i asked that question. but she is certainly the only one that came up with such a reply.

  if her memory is not failing, i am sure she noticed i live in the same block. i will not try to idle chat or say hello to her again.

  there are way too many 'interesting' people living in this block.
  
  anyway the reason why i asked her that question is not because i wanted to idle chat with her. it is not like she is a chio bu or anything near that.
  
  someone from this side of the block is always throwing litters down. on different occasions i found milo wrapper, plastic gloves, soap wrapper, toilet rolls, tissues etc in my bedroom.
  
  i wanted to know if anyone has an idea who the guilty party is.

  like i said, i asked a lot of people the same question but none came up with a reply like hers.
  
  i did not asked which unit, just left side or right side. there are plenty of units on both sides. and i did not even ask which floor, the lift at the 13th floor serves 4 levels!!!

  Err I think it depends on a lot of things... if it is the first time u met her, then it is quite a strange conversation starter.
  
  I remember when I first moved in, what most people would ask me is to smile, then ask "eh just move in?" (cos I could be visitor)
  
  So I'd answer 'yes' then they would say "oh, how much did you buy the unit for?"
  
  BlaH blah. impersonal things first ma.
  
  Also depends on how you look at tt time, if some strange man ask me whether I live on left or right side, I also wonder what to answer!!
