anything is possible. But tough to get A1.Originally posted by sinicker:GP A1 is possible. seriously.
Stop using terms like chao geng and nua.. It's detrimental to your english langauge..Originally posted by striderz_o405:anything is possible. But tough to get A1.
The best for GP in promos in my school last year was only a 65/100 sadly to say.
Any tips to score in GP?

If you want to know the progression of my grades over time, here it is:

Yr 1 June: CDEO
Yr 1 Promos: BBCD
Yr 2 March: BBCD
Yr 2 June: ABCC
Yr 2 Prelims: AABB
GCE A Levels: AAAA
My initial grades were nothing to be proud of, no? In fact, I got CEOO initially in Yr 1 June... they moderated the grades upwards later on. Heck, I failed every single Econs essay test in Yr 1. The lowest grade of every exam I took was in Econs.
There was totally no style in what I was doing - I employed a slow, all-out blunderbuss strategy. It was entirely pure brute force. I had to wait until Yr 2 June to get my first A - in Physics.
Like I said, you have two years to master everything. Do NOT leave everything to the last minute. Take it slow and steady.
I have to agree with that. The only way to improve on your English language is to use it properly as much as you can.Originally posted by d3sT1nY:Stop using terms like chao geng and nua.. It's detrimental to your english langauge..
You use perfect english in sms..?Originally posted by fudgester:I have to agree with that. The only way to improve on your English language is to use it properly as much as you can.
I once tutored a Secondary 1 kid, and his level of English was, to put it bluntly, atrocious. He kept using all sorts of 'geek speak' and SMS shorthands in his writings, forcing me to penalise him very heavily in his grammar and vocabulary.
When I asked him how many SMS messages he would send in an average month, he replied that he would send about 600-800 messages. In other words, that's 600-800 chances for him to write in poor SMS shorthand. It's small wonder that all that shorthand notation got into his writing.
Imagine the incredulous look on his face when I told him to start using proper English - down to correct punctuation - in his MSN and SMS messages.
He resisted doing so - and now he's paying the price with barely-passing grades in English.
Seriously, if you want to improve on your standard of English, a good start would be to use proper English in these forums.
I don't send a lot of SMS. According to my M1 bills, I send an average of 60-80 messages per month. The way I see it, if I'm going to have a lengthy phone discussion, I might as well just call the person.Originally posted by d3sT1nY:You use perfect english in sms..?
Amazing.. I only TRY to use it here..
