If the yellow box were taken up by non smokers.Originally posted by anhydrouscoppersulphate:but if the rule is applied we will take less 2nd hand smoke. i make efforts to hold my breath whenever i walk past a smoker. simply just hate the smell
of course they will. then vice versa non smokers will avoid those places where smokers smokeOriginally posted by M©+square:If the yellow box were taken up by non smokers.
Smokers will find other means to smoke also. So somehow, it just worsen the situation given now.
It's good that non smokers stay far from yellow Box area.
Yeah, so it's sort of like counter reactive kind of acts.Originally posted by anhydrouscoppersulphate:of course they will. then vice versa non smokers will avoid those places where smokers smoke
non smokers also wanna "breathe" alsoOriginally posted by dragg:give the smokers some breathing space.
afterall the purpose of the smoking box is to separate the smokers and non-smokers.
seriously, i have nothing against sitting and eating with smokers since i have smoker frens too...and like you said, in the PAST (key word), i will sit thru conversations with my smoker frens and of cos, being a DEMOCRATIC (haha!) bunch, we are ok with it lah...Originally posted by M©+square:It's not like you're a newbie in Singapore or you've a culture shock.
It has happened even before our generation and have actually accept that smokers WILL Smoke after their meals, at Kopitiam and Hawker Centres, until Food Court exist, these habits ceased.
Now that this Yellow box issue was raised. Non smokers seemed to talk as if they've never seen/expected food consumers to smoke after that.
Did you understand the few years back when you're a teenager and see people smoking in these places?
Even though you did not...but did you react strongly against it?
To me, it's simply.
I see Smokers - I shift to non 'cloudy' areas.
I wouldn't want to go and say 'KopiTiam is for Eating and Drinking leh Siao lian eh...'
I still want to sit at my favourite KT and makan one.
Cheers
too bad lee hsien loong doesnt smoke.Originally posted by gasband:seriously, i have nothing against sitting and eating with smokers since i have smoker frens too...and like you said, in the PAST (key word), i will sit thru conversations with my smoker frens and of cos, being a DEMOCRATIC (haha!) bunch, we are ok with it lah...
BUT THATS IN THE PAST!!!! muhaahahahaha
Now whenever we go out as a bunch, my smoker frens just automatically rise and gather as a group outside of the eating place and smoke...they see no problems with that...its just a 10 secs walk to the outside or even lesser...they dun complain so I dun see why should the others whine.....
AND SMOKERS, IT IS JUST TOO BAD THE LAW IS ON OUR SIDE~~~~
what can you do about it leh~~~~~

That's why the Yellow Box are meant for Smokers just like your Smoker friends have gathered as a group and smoke(they create their own Yellow Box)Originally posted by gasband:seriously, i have nothing against sitting and eating with smokers since i have smoker frens too...and like you said, in the PAST (key word), i will sit thru conversations with my smoker frens and of cos, being a DEMOCRATIC (haha!) bunch, we are ok with it lah...

Precisely, thats why i see no need to whine~~~ Just go elsewhere where it is legal to smoke~~~ My point is smokers have no right to ask non smokers to be considerate to their needs since that place was was eating and drinking anyway....Originally posted by M©+square:That's why the Yellow Box are meant for Smokers just like your Smoker friends have gathered as a group and smoke(they create their own Yellow Box)
I see the yellow Box as a way to please both parties. Both non smokers and Smokers.
I don't see the need to completely oust them out of the Sitting premises.
If i know non smokers were to sit at the yellow Box during peak hour. I'll smoke beside them. Because I'm in the yellow box! The Law is for me!!!!
Yup i see your point.Originally posted by gasband:who toks about warning the smokers that the place is mainly for eating and drinking when i see them? Like you say, I will just sit at non smoking areas...and in any case, some non smoking tables are like just beside smoking tables....
What I am saying is that...EVERYONE, including NON SMOKERS have the right and priority to sit at any table they want as long they are eating or drinking something. So when smokers come and see that the tables are being taken up, they should not whine but they just have to blame their wrong choice of "anti stress" tool (hoon ki lah).
Yeah, so the exodus is clear.Originally posted by gasband:Precisely, thats why i see no need to whine~~~ Just go elsewhere where it is legal to smoke~~~ My point is smokers have no right to ask non smokers to be considerate to their needs since that place was was eating and drinking anyway....

then you go make up one rule that everyone will folow and no one will kao pai kao buOriginally posted by Gwangetto:i'm not a smoker.
but i find that this rule is stupid. it causes so many complains and social problems esp between smoker and non smokers.
also, wind direction is another factor. to think that smoking at one spot is safe to those non-smokers outside the "yellow box".. this is crap lor.
we'll all eventually take in 2nd hand smoke.
the one who suggested this rule is a pathetic retarded scumbag.

time to squeeze the smokers??!!Originally posted by dnl_sim:recently got few reports on smoking areas , smokers by papers , anticipating that there'll be a 'catching' excercise coming up , government will send ppl out start to fine smokers who smoke outside the yellow box .. smokers out there , look see look see first
i would think so cos everytime media reported certain issues , actions were quickly taken .. eg. syndicate caught selling fake bags @ orchard road underground , and the infamous massage / health centres etc .. hopefully they (government) won't zoom in on smokers yet lorOriginally posted by dragg:time to squeeze the smokers??!!
those stupid smugglers (drivers) were paid probably just few hundred bucks to smuggle in cigarettes , but good for those smokers out there who've got lobang to buy contraband cigarettesOriginally posted by dragg:they really made alot from those illegal smugglers.
