Singapore supermarket chain, NTUC FairPrice, plans to add more Halal corners at its stores - to better cater to the needs of Muslim customers.
FairPrice announced this at the launch of its new Brunei Halal range of products, at its Joo Chiat Complex branch today.
Brunei Halal is an exclusive range of Halal-certified food products imported from Brunei.
For a start, over 20 products, such as instant noodles, chocolates and
biscuits, are available at most of its supermarkets and stores.
FairPrice is the first to offer Brunei Halal products outside of Brunei Darussalam.
CEO of NTUC FairPrice says that to date the supermarket chain has Halal
Corners certified by MUIS - the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore -
at 10 of its outlets.
"We see this market growing, so there are a few things
happening, number one is we intend to expand the number of Halal Corners
in our stores, we certainly want to work with as many suppliers to
bring in more Halal products."
