SINGAPORE: Rising food costs are quickly becoming a cause for concern amongst consumers.
But some food retailers are trying to ease that burden.
S$1.99 – this is how much a frozen chicken from Giant supermarket costs.
NTUC FairPrice is refusing to be left out in the cold, thus its chickens are going for the same price as well.
This is almost half of the price each chicken normally costs.
Both retailers say demand for their chickens has been good.
But industry watchers say continuing to sell at a loss will only hurt industry players in the long run.
