NTUC extends discount on 500 essential housebrand items till March 2009
SINGAPORE: To help consumers weather the economic downturn, NTUC
is extending its five per cent discount on 500 essential housebrand
items until end March 2009.
These housebrand items include FairPrice rice, cooking oil, milk, bread and canned food.
NTUC FairPrice said on Wednesday that more people are eating in
because of the current downturn and with this five-month extension, the
scheme will help consumers save about S$7.5 million in grocery bills
since it was launched in December 2007.
The five per cent discount scheme was initially due to end in February 2008, but the scheme has been extended three times.
NTUC FairPrice Foundation also donated S$1.5 million worth of food vouchers to help needy families in July this year.
