Ocean brand mineral water temporarily withdrawn from shelves, says Fairprice
The supermarket's management also said that
further checks would also be conducted on mineral water stocks within
stores to ascertain that they are safe for consumption.
Earlier on, STOMPer HM wrote in about finding
subtances looking like mould and mucus in a bottle of mineral water he
bought from a Fairprice supermarket on July 12.
He said:
"The expiry dates of the mineral water are in 2010.
"How can the quality be so bad when they have been awarded superbrand?"
This is the full reply from NTUC Fairprice dated July 25:
"Food safety and quality are of paramount importance to FairPrice.
We take the feedback very seriously and have taken immediate steps to
investigate the matter.
"We have alerted our supplier who has conducted tests on their water.
"Their tests reports have revealed no abnormalities in the water.
"As a precautionary measure, we have withdrawn the mineral water
from our shelves while we conduct further checks on stocks at our
stores.
"We thank STOMPer HM for the feedback and we would appreciate if
the sender could contact our customer service hotline at 1800 5522 722
so that we may follow up on the matter with him or her."
