Err what about the Dairy Farm group, Carrefour and Sheng Siong.Originally posted by sbst275:When NTUC gets monopoly, I do fear inflation may happen
Once they monopolised the SG retail market, they will stop offering offers and increase the price
The price mechanism will start to go heywired, cos there's only 1 player selling the item
Still no use, NTUC captures the lions share when talking abt the percentage of ppl going there and patroniseOriginally posted by elindra:Err what about the Dairy Farm group, Carrefour and Sheng Siong.
Anyway the mom & pop shops here can no longer compete with the big boys. They even buy from NTUC or Sheng Siong to replenish their goods.
How many bigger outlets are there? Most are really small and it is true that alot do buy from NTUC when they are having their sales.Originally posted by sbst275:Still no use, NTUC captures the lions share when talking abt the percentage of ppl going there and patronise

Btw NTUC is not the only supermarket that does bulk purchase. All the other supermarkets does that.
I believe in the past that is true, but they have lost alot of market share to the Dairy Farm group as a whole as they no longer have the privilage of being the only supermarket where the heartlanders are.
