Why disallow NETS payment at NTUC supermarkets by spouse of card-holder?
I am very unhappy that my NETS payment at NTUC supermarkets with my DBS cashline account is no longer accepted.
I am sure other shoppers who have joint accounts with their husbands experience the same frustration.
My husband and I have a joint cashline account with DBS. He can use his DBS card to make NETS payment at NTUC but I cannot. This is causing me a lot of inconvenience as I am the one doing the grocery shopping for the family.
Everytime I shop at NTUC Marine Parade, I have to carry cash with me. In this age of cashless society, why are we going back to the old way of payment by cash? Most NTUCs do not accept credit cards.
Why does the Monetary Authority of Singapore disallow NETS payment by the spouse when it allowed this in the past? Recently, a consumer complained about this in the ST forum but the reply from by the authority was that if they accepted NETS payment, it was regarded as credit.
When I enquired at DBS Bank why NETS payment by the spouse was not allowed, they replied that all banks had to adhere to the MAS rule.
Also, why do the NTUC supermarkets at the Killiney Road and Orchard Road areas allow credit card payment but not the other NTUC supermarkets islandwide?
Isn't this unfair? If NETS payment by a spouse is not allowed, the NTUC supermarkets islandwide should accept credit card payments.
