i think it is highly possible for SEA to follow Euro and issue a standard currency for all the SEA countries

what an idotic idea here. the economies of richer SEA countries like SG,malaysia,thailand etc and poorer economies of Laos,Myanmar etc are a huge gap in between. it would end up like current state of Euros even faster. See how Greece is bringing the Euro currency down. you need to have member countries whose economies are on par with each other.

The EU Countries are: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus*, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, The Irish Republic, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain (but not the Canary Islands), Sweden, The UK (but not the Channel Islands). -
UK's currency is British Pound....
Euro Zone's currency is EuroDollar....
Hence, UK is never in Euro's Single Currency (yet)... they may in future...but dunno when.

but not within the Monetary control of the ECB... European Central Bank.

British Pound is still the STRONGEST CURRENCY in the banking inter exchange rate even since they are floated in FX...
why devalue themselves to join the Single Currency Exchange Rate in order to join the Euro Zone....
U think Singapore Dollar will join the Indonesian Rupiah as a SEA single currency ?
