I have been working on a mobile software startup with a group of friends for quite some time after getting funding from MDA. We are about to launch our beta testing soon and I am quite concerned about several issues, such as getting further funding for possible expansion and the likelihood of gaining widespread acceptance among users.
The business is actually MyWobile, a location-based social networking tool that resides on mobile phones. For now, we have developed features that include the ability to find out where your other friends are, provided that they allow people to see their location. We have also implemented communities and nearby events, happenings and shops.
I believe that we would need to partner with content providers, but it has proven to be very difficult to speak to potential partners, especially since we are a new startup and have not much bargaining power. I would like to seek some expert opinions on what can be done to better gather partners and potentially more funding.
the naming is important.
there's no expert opinion
Just go out there and try out as many possiblities and partners as you can
Of all your tries, you just need 1 partner to start and succeed. From there, repeat what you do. Slowly but surely, your network will build up and people will look for you themselves, even those who had rejected you last time.
Your system is the same as the GPS system with all the subscribing shops locations in the map - maybe you can talk to people who owns the map to sell them the idea
Seem like the idea has been done. Saw something similiar on news a few days ago.
