  I still have my SGX shares and have yet to sell but it will be soon.
  
  I bought Pan United Corporation in Oct last year at 34cts, it went up to 41, I bought some more and averaged out. I finally sold at 58cts, the stock is currently trading ard 64cts, My total gains is abt 18k+
  
  Tiongwoon, is a fast game I bought at 26cts when it exploded and sold at 31.5cts abt 5 days later(T+3 incl weekend) for a nice $900(approx) contra gain.
  
  Wheellock despite they gave out $2 a share dividend, I didn't take it but went for the rights issue my cost base for this is now abt 53cts from $1.60 when I first bought it yrs back, if you factor in the dividends they paid over those years then it's even less, after the RT issue the share split into 3 it went down all the way to $1.41 from $4:30+ here I accumulated somemore, the share last few days jumped to $1.54, I think this share still has an upside price target potential of close to $1.86 but have to keep it for a while.

  I used to trade shares. I made some and lose some. On average I made pennies. The profits did not warrant the stress and risk I experienced. I think I will be better off to buy and hold for few years. But I have friends that do very well trading stocks and options.
  
  Trading US stocks are more exciting.

  short term, most people make.
  
  but when a crisis like 911 or dot.com burst during the millenium strikes then you will really know what stock market trading is.
  
  lots of people suffered heavy losses because of such events.

  I don't really trade stocks in a sense, I buy and hold, some I hold for years like in the case of wheellock pre 9-11, most is a few months to a year, and because contra is only T+3 I rarely do contra trades unless there is motivation to do so as in the case on tiongwoon, and if I do normally I try to time it on a friday so that my T+3 is actually T+5 the purpose for that is to increase the time it takes before I need to settle the trade so I got more time to look for cash in case sometimes I miscalculate and fall short in my trades.

  Lets take a look at my portfolio...
  
  So far my best score is still globalvoice. Bought at 5 cents sold at 12 cents.
  Made around 5k in profit.
  
  Statschipac bought at 90cents currently trading at $1.22. Around 1.2k in profit.
  
  Wingtai Holdings bought at $0.88 currently trading $1.65. Around 9k in profit.
  
  Capitaland bought at $2.30 currently trading at $4.18. Around 11k in profit.
  
  so its roughly around 23k in profit. I also have some other lousy shares like MEAG prime reit which is losing money...wtf.

  Pre 911 days? If Im going to hold a stock for that long, I would try to find one that gives out stable and regular dividends. Something like Capitamall trust.

  Mine is all in CPF I got only SGX and SingPost. Enjoyed good dividends this few years. Over 100% profit if I sell them now.
  
  Too bad, cannot take the cash to invest in my own business even I got even CPF retained in the board for retirement after lessing my HDB. Have to wait till 55 at least another 20 years...die liao.

  Looks like the only option to utilise the cash in your CPF is to buy another CPF trustee stock.

  Thanks for the offer, I got my investment methods that works well for me, my immediate relatives and few close friends that followed.
  
  My investment method changed after clob issues that stripped me. My investment is not so much as compared to my uncle and brother - because they escaped untouch during clob issue and 911. No for me, burned few times, only escaped 911.
  
  I am not seeing and following stock this days. Basically waiting for the right time to unload only. I can tell you when to get out of the market if you needed my advise. For investment now, I don't wanted to speculate anything. Still can make, but may no worth the effort.

  Thanks for sharing your views, I have my own investment strategies as well, but Im more focused towards property and high yield stocks. Currently, my attention is on small market cap companies. Globalvoice is an example.
