Pearl energy in oil exploration and production.Originally posted by KumSioJui:I feel the most important aspect of a great business is the
* "self recurring consumables business" whereby that part generates income by itself with little or no intevention.
* Monopolistic in nature
* Not much capital investment required to produce those results.
Companies like F&N, YHS they sell soft drinks and fast food which are more or less self recurring businesses. Things like office/retail rental business that F&N owns in centerpoint are also more or less self recurring.
Other companies like stamford tyres I like also, so many cars on the road after driving for a while tyres need to be changed or re-threaded -- consumable and recurring but they are not monoplistic as I'm sure there is competition.
telco depending where could be monopolistic but capital investment is huge huge amt needed to generate equally huge returns. I dun really like.
Best is SGX, total monopoly anybody want to buy/sell shares/commodities/futures/warrants have to go thru them, the capital investments can be quite substantial but is not every year like telco always need to upgrade.
Pearl Energy I think you need huge capital investments for oil/energy exploration and exploration to me is like betting on chance. You do a survey on a potential seabed, you send a drill down and nothing come up some costs already incurred not really my cup of tea but I dunno. I would prefer to invest in the company that supplied diamond drills to energy companies like Pearl instead.
What business is pearl energy in btw?
