I reckon the reason why there is such a heavy turnover among the banking industry especially for sales/marketing positions is because of saturation.Originally posted by PMLEE:banking sector quite competitive.. no doubt they r hiring now but..u noe in competitive enviroment, u go in & out faster than u warm ur seats.

1 thing i dun like is having to meet quotas.. so sales related are out for me..Originally posted by charlize:I reckon the reason why there is such a heavy turnover among the banking industry especially for sales/marketing positions is because of saturation.
There are only so many customers in Singapore who need certain financial products yet banks are agressively hiring sales staff to promote and sell their banking products.
If you can't meet your sales quota for the month / quarter, you are out and the banks (stupidly) hires another sales staff to take over the vacant position and the cycle continues.
When the next recession strikes (in the next year or two) there will be another round of massive retrenchments or layoffs.
i believe she's got her parents to pay for her education... i have nobody to do that for me..Originally posted by dragg:my niece is only 25. graduated from NUS. now earning $4300 as a consultant for a bank.

You will likely be fighting for jobs with the next big thing of foreign talents from Africa or South America.
Do what makes you happy but balance it with the fact that you will find it hard to survive in Singapore without that Fucking piece of paper.Originally posted by shinta:yeah..
this brings me to my next question....
should i go ahead.. scrimp n save to clear off my debt n get a degree in this?
or just clear my debts nia...n stay in this job... with slight chance of a raise, no chance of promotion (unless i go do IT)?
