Are you sure they traded shares? Or were they involve in Futures or Forex?Originally posted by dragg:stay away from the stock market. i have friends who lost very heavily.
ever heard of beginner's luck? most people win initially only to end up with heavy losses.Originally posted by shade343:Are you sure they traded shares? Or were they involve in Futures or Forex?

once you get hooked you start to trade more. it happens to almost everybody i know. i do not know a single soul who won. (friends, colleagues etc)
most people only tell others how much they have won. did they tell you about their paper loss?Originally posted by shade343:Well, too bad for them...I know quite a lot of ppl who did their homework, invested wisely and won.
They told me their NETT profit, so...yah, that should include loss as well.Originally posted by dragg:most people only tell others how much they have won. did they tell you about their paper loss?

any idea what september 11 did to many so-called investors?

lost 100k or 100k per year?Originally posted by bismarck:SPECULATE! SPECULATE! Do it wrong and you will be like my dad
losing 100k per year.
my mum's pay for the last 5,6 years all lost.
Not really, if they have still held on to it....they are almost reaching the break even point. The STI Indexhas now shot up to a 7 year high level...its even higher than what it was in 2000. SO those who have not sold their stake can slowly break even and continue receiving dividends.Originally posted by dragg:i believe there are people who wins overall. but not many.
those who bought heavily before 911 and the millenium definitely incurred heavy losses.
