Sorry but i dont take North south line to work. There is one particular day i need to take the MRT from bishan to TPY but i am so surprise. Because it is just so crowded and everyone was queuing..
I need to wait at least the 3rd train then can squeeze in, and it is sardine pack. Made me wonder why transport fee raise in the first place.
Bishan is a CCL Int.
Furthermore, anything beyond AMK is alrdy pretty packed. It's a downstream problem.
Reminds me of a video I watched on youtube abt the Hong Kong's KCRC.. People pushing people into the train.
bishan MRT was really jialat when the circle line came up...
Jurong MRT also beri jialat... these 2 MRT most jialat on the north south line...
Aft Novena, then would you see more people starting to alight from the MRT train...
AMK, Bishan, Braddell, Toa Payoh more jialat for Southbound.
Is Circle line one of the reason?
CCL is likely one of the causing factor.
The CCL Western leg itself cannot cope le, 1/2 reason is some ppl switched from bus chia

oh, chiu ish wan to flame FT too? then say so in the first post nah...
Here alot of FT haters, everyone will help u flame once u post a flame bait...
ya, circle line opens more traffic, but we also have a bigger population now...
No la, if i want to flame i will jus flame, no beat around the bushes. But i dont know it is that crowded..and people queing up automatically like waiting for taxi.. and there is no queue line drawn on the floor.. make me think about hk and tw la.
oh, certain places sure like tat de...
CCL is a factor, but there are also quite alot of different factor...
But really, bishan really turned into sardine canned when CCL opened... Paya lebar MRT also become more crowded then usual but not as bad as bishan...
actually if U wan to see a more jialat station, can go jurong, but I last heard the platform is sooo full that U might not be able to stand on the platform itself
Circle Line works both ways.
It allows some people to bypass the two main lines. I, for one, used to take the MRT from Buona Vista to the east in order to go home from NUS. Now I take the Circle Line all the way to Paya Lebar and bypass the city center in the process.
On the other hand, it also directs more people towards the main lines. After all, the Circle Line is a 'feeder' line of sorts for the main lines.
Let's say someone wants to go from Buona Vista to Ang Mo Kio. In the past, he would go down to the city, change at Raffles Place/City Hall, and take the northbound train. Now he would take the CCL to Bishan and change trains there. So you could say that the crowds have shifted from Raffles Place/City Hall to Bishan.
End result? I ain't gonna complain about the utility of the Circle Line. I only wish they had actually built larger stations and used six-car trains instead of three.

THIS. FREAKING THIS.
They've clearly underestimated the need for crosstown MRT lines.
First time taking mrt?
okay lah.... maybe should have...... 4 carriages.
DTL also 3 carriages. clearly, they didn't learn their lesson. still stick with 3.

Best to have four, and platform built for six. The KL STAR LRT did this.

Guangzhou Metro did this too.
welcome to singapore.
1st time here?
Things have changed, MRT never changed except for its fees.
It goes one way: UP!
Wset side ah, no choice lah, over there Jurong East/Boon Lay must handle EWL and NSL/Jurong Inustries crowds respectively... confirm very crowded one. Plus, the town itself is also highly populated...
For Bishan I can say it's TERROR for the CCL stn. Crowded until dunno how crowded. I can't even get onto the platform, ridiculous. NSL the Newton-Raffles Place crowded until dooes cannot close properly.
And another point to emphasise is the Marina Bay Extension. WALAO THAT ONE OPEN OREDI BECOME NIGHTMARE OF ALL CCL COMMUTERS. Every day without fail, the originally-deserted Staduim stn will now flood with ppl (especially the Indian Workers) all over the platform. I miss the good old peaceful days of east CCL man!!! If that's the case I think I shall stop commuting that part of CCL oredi.
I expect to see CCL frequency improve soon (to 2-3 mins for weekend, NOT 7-8 MINS), if they are not going to extend the trains, since they have oredi fixed their platform. Stupid for LTA to set the DTL to three cars...

KCR there are PRC ppl from Shenzhen to cross the border. For platform 4 of Lo Wu station towards heart of HK u will find cars 8-12 unboardable while 1-3 practically empty -,-"
Damn crowded.
Damn crowded on EW line.
Haiz.
no its sg too crowded. we suppose to attract tourist - not people on social visit pass to cum here crowd and stink our place, and cum here overstay and commit crimes - prostitution and hide inside forest camp.
Imagine in a few years time, 6 - 8 million people.
Huat ah.
