SMRT breakdown again?

SINGAPORE: MRT train
services between Marina Bay and Orchard appear to have broken down
Saturday morning -- two days after a major breakdown on the North South
Line.
When contacted by channelnewsasia.com, an SMRT media spokesperson said SMRT was looking into the matter.
Various social media reports filed by commuters travelling on MRTs said train services have been disrupted.
MediaCorp
hotline caller Jeannie said she and other passengers -- who were in a
train near City Hall -- were asked to evacuate the train after "the
doors got stuck".
Ms Jeannie said the passengers had to walk along the underground train tunnel.
The
reported breakdown came a day after SMRT CEO Saw Phaik Hwa apologised
for Thursday's glitch which affected 127,000 passengers, including 1,000
trapped in each of the four stalled trains.

Sacking the CEO or the board is not the right solution, neither is fine for the SMRT.
What
should be done is to fine the CEO and the top management hefty
(equivalent to the loss for SMRT) for gross incompetency and make sure
they work and solve the problem.
Fining a corporate is like
pinching a statue, no pain, fining the CEO and top management is human,
they have to feel the pain with at least 1 year salary for each
incident. CEO and chairman will have to pay more. Don't let them resign
and go scott free. If cannot pay, jail them.

An SMRT spokesman said Saturday morning's breakdown was likely due to a similar problem that caused a five-hour disruption on the same North-South MRT line on Thursday evening. Then, a misalignment between the train track and 'collector shoes', special components that trains draw power from, had caused the fault.
Northbound train service between Raffles Place to Jurong East is available as of 9am, said SMRT in an updated statement Saturday morning.
However, there remains no southbound service between Toa Payoh and Marina Bay.
SMRT said bus bridging services are available in both directions between Ang Mo Kio and Raffles Place. There is another shuttle service between Raffles Place and Marina Bay.
SMRT has also launched its Twitter account, and commuters can follow their updates at smrt_singapore.
Train service was first disrupted in both directions between Orchard and Marina Bay stations at 6.50am.
By 7.55am, this had stretched to Newton, and then to Toa Payoh by 8.18am. At 8.50am, there was no service between Ang Mo Kio and Marina Bay stations.
Latest update from SMRT: Trains from Toa Payoh to Newton have resumed, but service from Newton to Marina Bay still down
