Maybe I'm just very picky, but I really find the announcements on SMRT trains (NSL, EWL, CCL) are really, really long-winded for the interchanges. The whole idea of announcements is to get the message across quickly and clearly, not beat around the bush yakking about which platform.
I propose it be simplified to:
"Next station: Raffles Place. Interchange station for the East West Line towards Joo Koon. Doors will open on the left."
Much easier to understand, right?

> Joo Koon which platform ah?? Raffles Place is a Level platform means
NSL > Jurong East Via Woodlands EWL > Pasir Ris/Changi Airport
EWL > Joo Koon NSL > Marina Bay
Bo liao... Current annoucement is just nice.... Or u wan suggest hor... Suggest....
Raffles Place Interchange... Exchange here for the East West Line towards Joo Koon on the platform on the left, Thank You
Bishan Interchange ... Exchange here for North South Line...
Better then ur suggestion and I think the current annoucement is just right.
I don't like the announcement at NEL when near outram park and harbour front, making a lot of tunnel noise which makes us can't hear the announcement properly

... Everything complain....Next time ask them on louder and burst ur eardrums
To clarify, say we're on the NSL towards Marina Bay.
Next station: City Hall. Interchange station for the East West Line towards Pasir Ris and Changi Airport.
Next station: Raffles Place. Interchange station for the East West Line towards Joo Koon.
Is this not so much simpler? It is understood if you only announce one direction, it's cross-platform for that direction (easier for the passangers).
And announcing left/right, only announce left - in Singapore, default is doors open on the right.
Actually i feel that because of the noise from the train, plus the crowd noise, I think if I'm a tourist I won't be able to hear what the damn annoucement is trying to say. It would be good if it's kept short and straight to the point.

precisely! it's more like 75% tunnel noise, and 25% pax noise~
Exactly, so don't make them listen so much!
I don't think its long-winded.
I think the announcement is for new communters and old people who are forgetful.
It is damn annoying to regulars like me wor =3=
i take train tampines to pioneer.
sometimes tampines > pasir ris > pioneer. and pioneer > joo koon > tampines.
seriously, westbound announcement approaching Jurong East damn long!!!!!!!!!!! from before IBP start playing already.
The annoucements on the new SMRT Citaro buses are also irritating, loud and redundant.
"Welcome on board SMRT buses" "Please hold on to the grab poles when standing on the buzzz..."
I don't think these are even necessary, and is very irritating as particularly almost every bus stop have to hear this.
