SINGAPORE: SBS Transit will be adding some 200 train trips to its MRT services to cope with an expected rise in ridership during the Formula One weekend from September 23-25.
Train operating hours for the North East Line (NEL) will be extended.
Waiting time will be
shortened to five minutes from after the evening peak hour to midnight
on Friday and from noon to midnight on Saturday and Sunday.
After midnight, trains will run at a frequency of six minutes on all the three evenings.
For Punggol and Sengkang LRT, the last LRT train will depart only after the last NEL train arrives at their respective stations.
Some bus services will also be affected by road closures due to the Formula One race week.
From
September 21 to 26, 28 bus services will be temporarily diverted to
travel on alternative routes due to road closures in the Marina Centre
area.
