Recently, there's this rumour on Facebook of police and staff going around to catch us train enthusiasts for taking photos and videos. Although the sources may be unreliable, it's best not take the risks for now.
Quotes from Facebook:
"
We, as Train-enthusiasts were caught By CSO at Ang Mo Kio while train-camping. SMRT has been hunting train/Bus fans with any source of people with a video camera. They have checked YouTube Accounts of train-fans and are slowly tracking down us....We have been warned not to take photos of trains but can spot them..And some are in danger.."
"warning to all train fan:had information at yishun CSO .SMRT hunting all peeling item and snaping or videoing or rec announcement"
Rumors are rumors. Remember that unless they come up with a law against photography/videography, we're technically not doing anything illegal, so make sure you use that if they ever mention illegality in their arguments.

I doubt there will be this law, unless japan, the train "heaven", also have.
Photography/filming is not banned in MRT, but banned in immigration checkpoints and in Jurong Island.
60% take photos in MRT (including filming), 40% do not due to security reasons.

Audio clips remain.
Well I got to say this. What is the definition of public transport? It means anyone who have CEPAS card or by cash(in Singapore)could take any kind of public transport either trains or buses and has no restrictions on the number of rides per day till the last trains or buses on that day and the fare value requirement reached !
So back to topic, in my opinion , train/bus enthusiasts had done nothing wrong on recording videos on trains or buses, train announcements ,bus and train rides UNLESS they had trepass like go in TO cabin(for trains) purposely/without valid reasons or littering on MRT stations,in the MRT,in the buses or at the bus interchanges and whatsoever offence that violates the rules using public transport !!!

The sources are in the quotes.
Just last week, a day before Halloween, my friends and I were gathered somewhere outside Yishun MRT control station. One of my friends was taking some candid shots of the group meet for fun and keep-sake. He was approached by Yishun MRT staff and told not to take photos....
Another friend who just tapped his EZ-link card and exited the barrier was stopped and asked to produce his IC for verification.
Weird eh? I understand random checks, but man...the staff sure seem paranoid. Oh well, whatever keeps the place safe.

That's the funniest rule in Singapore I've heard so far, second only to the outlawing of gum.
Seriously, vulgarities an offense? Vandalizing a train, assaulting someone... fine, that should be punishable. Shouldn't staff be chasing the many commuters who eat and drink in trains instead?

He means public nuisance in public transport like the video of auntie shouting at passengers on not giving up their seats to the those who in needs like the elderly and pregnant women >> referrring to ''Seriously , vulgarities an offense?''

Surely more than that !

The 25% includes people who cannot speak, which roughly adds up to 20% and those who don't use it, around 5%.

Of course.
1) If the foreign come to Singapore and take photo in our MRT stations and the "No Photography/No Videography sign. They should be more mad and not welcome us (Singapore).
2) No Photography/Videography sign is not the problem. But did you know a suspicious looking person with a haversack or a bag. (If he/she making terror in our train/station) No Rules. Because of? Terrorist. Samething for this videography. They just don't want anyone of us helping terrorist. We should keep Singapore safe.
For today, I saw some of commuter taking pictures.
How often does anyone, anyone who took the train in Singapore, get fined for this? No cases reported.
What's the probability of one getting fined for this? P(getting fined for this) = 1/1000
So what more can we all say? Tourists come here in Singapore to capture their memories in Singapore, so most likely they're let off, but us here, we are consistantly capturing, and uploading. Uploading. Other Singaporeans, they zi lian, or self-photo, and just find faults, or some stuffs etc. but we are uploading. Okay, other Singaporeans, their pictures might be uploaded, but how much of the train system can you see from the photo?
I do see ppl taking self-shot photos with the flash light on. This is usually ppl done it for interest, is this an offence? will it affect for the public??
