Maybe Malay called Tanjung Pagar while English called as Tanjong Pagar.
You may go to the international railways forum to obtain more details

Old, slow, truly asian train.6. What do you want it to become in future?
Demolish it. Put the unhappy past behind us.
Singaporeans call it Tanjong Pagar. Likewise other places in Singapore, for instance, Tanjong Rhu, Tanjong Kling, Tanjong Katong, the 'Tanjong' is spelt with an 'O'.
In Malaysia, the original spelling of Tanjung, with a 'U', is widely used. Hence, the railway station is called Tanjung Pagar. The only good example of a place with a 'Tanjung' in Malaysia which is spelt with an 'O' is Tanjong Kling in Malacca. Then again, it is slowly being replaced with the original Tanjung in maps and other uses.

The official name is 'Tanjung Pagar', no matter how it's called.
I think Tanjong with the "O" is the old malay language ( correct me if i am wrong)
Tanjung is the new one. just like Cherita vs cerita, for example ( for those malays u shld know what i mean)
cerita means story. some of the malay words that we used is new from the old
Well the "official name'' for the station is Tanjong Pagar and even the maps I seen like Street Directory it spells with an O ! And Superbus is definitely correct on what he says ! Original names must remains original !

The official name from KTMB is 'U'. Street directories cannot be trusted at times, although 'EW15 Tanjong Pagar' is correct.

And since KTMB is moving out, the SG authorities might just rename that with a 'O' so as not to confuse the people. And Tanjong Pagar Terminal is correct too.
Maybe azharjj might be correct despite I not Malay. Just like Chinese got Simplified version (Now more "Standard" and used in China excluding Taiwan, and most other Chinese populated areas like Singapore / Malaysia internationally) and Traditional version (Used mainly in Taiwan only).

Yea, that's the same explanation that my Malay friend told me last time as well. I think other local name examples include "Sungei Gedong". Local Malay writing already uses "sungai" and "gedung". Correct me if I'm wrong.
I noticed that the newer areas of Punggol are spelt as such, whereas the old areas are spelt as "Ponggol" (e.g. Ponggol Seventeenth Avenue, Ponggol Twenty-Fourth Avenue). Not sure if it could be due to the same situation.
Like British-American English spellings and Traditional-Simplified Chinese characters, I think it's not so much of a right or wrong, or original or not, but which spelling is adopted by its owner. Maybe local authorities will use "Tanjong Pagar" after it's handed over to standardise the spelling with local usage and avoid confusion like what C751A 70049/70050 said.
