I dunno if it is me, but I been observing some train doors wait for a good 1 minute, even in off peak, like during weekends before the door is closed and the train move on.
Is it due to train in next station, thats why the train remain stationary for a good minute. but hey that is on weekend off peak period, so can't be that.
Is it due to train driver sneaking to go to toilet to pee?
well, it could be the TO who needs to ans a call of nature..
or perhaps, there could still be commuters rushing to board the train too..
yah i notice too, the train door closing getting longer
but this entice stupid people to come in last min
and i see many a times people almost kena kiap
which station?
it's either TO goes to e toilet or at RFP or CTH, waiting for x-over platform ppl to finish e x-fer.
Otherwise it's normal ops.
longer dwell time still must zhi dong.. buzzer sound off riao dun attempt to board.
tat said, sometimes there's tight schedule and 2nd buzzer sounds w/ alighting pax.
is it train driver, like bus driver have to adhere to their timing ie reach the end of the depot. if too early, then waste time like dun close door for 2 mins lor.

actually train schedules ought to be more tighter than buses because it's running on dedicated tracks..
it's unless one of the trains is too fast or too slow.
I felt like letting the train driver know if it take 1 minute for him to close the door during peak period. where can I press to talk to the driver?

If a train is ahead of schedule, departing would only cause the train to encounter delays in the journey as it may catch up with the previous train.
If path to the next "block" of track still not cleared, then there's no use closing the doors anyway, as the train would not be able to move.

So far i have never seen anyone talk to a TO.
There is a button to press to talk to TO, but only used for emergencies.
For last trains, the train will stop and wait until the train opposite to arrive, then the doors of both trains close together and the two trains depart together.

I have seen the other train wait until the other train pulls up at the opposite side and then when the passengers are rushing to enter the waiting train, the waiting train just closes the door in their faces.
Make the commuters who tried to run for it look like goondus.

This is interesting.
Station A Arrival: 12:00:00 (A), 12:07:00(B)
Station A Departure: 12:00:30 (A)(Scheduled Departure: 12:00:30), 12:07:30 (B)(Scheduled Departure: 12:08:00)
Station B Arrival: 12:02:00(A)(Scheduled Arrival: 12:02:00), 12:09:30(B)(Scheduled Arrival: 12:10:00)
So in what way the train behind got delayed?
On a side note, if a train has to stop for for an extended period of time consecutively in station due to scheduling, it's safe to conclude that the timetable is of a "bad design".
Did you guys notice that the trains will coast occasionally during Auto Mode but are pushing it's maximum limit consistently during CM Mode? The coasting in auto mode is meant to displace the time lost when operating in CM Mode since TO needs "slightly more time to stop the train accurately".
From this, we can in a way, conclude that our train system has a relatively "slack" timetable during off peak hour, occasionally even during peak hour. This is so-called to ensure that trains are on-time within +/- 3mins, adhering to this limit even during CM Mode. One can thus conclude that when everything is working fine, train are usually on time even during morning peak hour.
In contrast back in Japan, train schedules are considerbly tight, in contrast to our 24tph on average, one of the most robust system running back in Japan is operating at 35tph. With tight schedules and passengers wanting to board the train, trains often depart 1~3mins late than scheduled in stations where passengers traffic are relatively high.
But due to the operation nature of the train operators there, train are usually either on time or up to 1min late upon reaching terminus station, which happens to be a "CBD area" most of the time despite operating in a tight schedule. And not to worry, passengers comfort is at it's best, even better than what our system provides.
As an added information, if the train is late by 5mins or more in Japan, one can obtain a valid certificate from the railway company to prove that one is late because the trains are late.

If one minute stop at Somerset. Impossible unless some technical problem.
If you ride from JUR, (JUR-DBG will be 55 minutes)
And you stop at SOM a long time. The train departed and travel to Dhoby Ghaut will be 56min or more..
Yeah, maybe we should attach blades to the edges of the door, slice off whose arms just don't heed the doors closing sign.

lol~!
Probably due to the front train too near to the train. No choice have to wait for the front train to move out of the station before the train started. Thus, door open lah...I think so lah.
Maybe because they playplay, playing blocking games, or too crowded, perhaps??
