I was surprised to note that Paya Lebar Circle Line Station has 3 platforms and was asked to alight to switch to another train on another platform in order to proceed my journey to Dhobby Ghaut ...
I wondering which other Circle Line Station has 3 platforms?
Did the PA system in the train announce for the switch to another train? I didn't hear anything other than seeing a SMRT Staff screaming for commuters to switch over to another train if going over to Dhobby Ghaut.
The announcement can be heard at the platform however.

The train that you boarded was a SWT train. Always see the RATIS before boarding

What's so suprising? the middle track is for the trains to return to KCD

The middle track is also to stablise 2 trains, so that these trains can start their service from Paya Lebar once it reaches the opening hour. (To make the first train arrive between Paya Lebar to Dhoby Ghaut earlier)

Don't you mean stabling? Stabilizing is a different thing altogether.
As far as I know, no other Circle Line stations will be triple-tracked. Bedok Town Park station on the Downtown Line will, though, also for terminating trains to return to KCD.

I'm not sure which "stable" I'm referring, but you get what I mean :P
And yeah, no other Circle Line stations will have 3 platforms.

Actually it's 2 platforms & 3 tracks.

Nah, CCL (2 Platforms) + EWL (1 Platform) = 3 Platforms
The other one is Dhoby Ghaut. Hahah.
But here referring to CIRCLE LINE PLATFORM. DHG CCL only got ONE platform Get it?
A triple platform is an overhead one; FUTURE Jorong East MRT station(don't say I off-topic).
Even if u say Stage 4 / 5 of CCL, I don't think so. Read up please.
Function (I may be wrong)
it's e short working trip.
if not how can SMRT deliver 3.5 mins freq?

- Straits times say that Marymount to PYL timing is 3 mins at peak-hrs. Certain trains terminates at middle platform to turn back to Marymount so the timing is shorten to 3 mins from 7 mins. PYL to DHG is always 7 mins. No change.
- Rumoured the middle track could extend to ERL Marine Parade due to lack of interchanges in the ERL.
ERL dun think would serve Paya Lebar.
It is actually 4 platforms (platform A to D) and 3 tracks. If you think it should not be 4 plaforms, write in to LTA or SMRT.
There is no MRT stations here with only one platform. All MRT stations have at least 2 platforms.
This is shown in the photo below, with "Platform A" and "Platform B".
Sad, none of the stations at CCL4 or 5 have more than 2 platforms (tracks). Hopefully the trains won't be as packed as EW trains when arriving at HV or BV CCL stations.

To me, I'm guessing BNV or HBF will have three platforms..

No, not at all. I have somehow checked the feasibility of these stations NOT to have middle track because it can extended to nowhere.
Yes, the rumour, whether is an ERL extension or CCL extension, nobody could say for sure but such rumour are not baseless despite not reflected in 2001 plans (But reflected on 1996 plans).

The only 1 platform station is at Ten Mile Junction LRT.
I dun think it would be crowded. CCL stns, I describe some of them as 'got place to serve but dun serve the area'.
E.g.:
Overall, I think CCL may NOT make $$ (Nevermind la, SMRT still got its first two lines to make up the $$.).
Talking about platforms, I'm referring to THE STANDING ROOM FOR COMMUTERS.

E.g.:
- Nicoll Highway MRT station: I understand that the collapse caused them to shift away but I dun think they are serving the right area.
- Tai Seng MRT station: Why don't have exit point on the opposite side? (I dun mind only got two exit point only)
- Bartley MRT station: What is over there?
- Lorong Chuan MRT station: So many HDB flats in the western side but what is the point serving Serangoon Garden?
- Marymount MRT station: I think the exit at wrong place.
- Bukit Brown MRT station
- Holland Village MRT station: The real town has more people there.
- Labrador Park MRT station: unless the exits are at opposite sides.
Overall, I think CCL may NOT make $$ (Nevermind la, SMRT still got its first two lines to make up the $$.).
Bukit Brown is like Woodleigh. The rest I agree despite Nicoll Highway thing, they cant further move in which involves inside the Beach Road thing (U have the curve thing to consider and I bet that Promendae - Esplanade is the max sharp curve one could ever do).
Bartley is more for Maris Stella students, the private estate there and the Nepalaese police (Woodleigh is another choice)

Even by your definition, Ang Mo Kio, Jurong East (Before JEMP which is before May 2011), Paya Lebar (CCL), Tanah Merah has 2 platforms and the rest having 1 platform with a notable exception of City Hall / Raffles Place / Promenade is 2 platforms stacked.
Only Jurong East has 3 platforms in future.

Yeah but somehow the platforms they refer like (Platform A to D) refers to the side where the doors are opening.
In actual fact, Jurong East should have Platform A and Platform B only.

According to SMRT, 1 sqm can fit up to 9 ppl
According to some sources, 1 sqm can fit up to 6 ppl
According to trams, 1 sqm can fit up to 4 ppl
Stations are constructed according to the demand it is estimated it is going to handle. A poorly-planned station is Jurong East.
