SINGAPORE: Passengers on board an MRT train were evacuated on Friday evening at the Kembangan station after smoke was detected in one of its carriages.
The train was on the East-West line heading towards Jurong.
The incident happened at about 7pm.
A hotline caller told MediaCorp the train was approaching Kembangan station when smoke started coming out of one of the sections connecting the carriages.
Thirty-three-year-old passenger Sun Zhi Yi, who was just five metres away from the section, said: "(There was) a lot of smoke and it smelled like diesel".
Mr Sun said the train was crowded at the time of the incident.
An announcement was made for passengers to alight at Kembangan station and wait for the next train.
SMRT said investigations were ongoing.

only C151
One off incident.
They should conduct checks on all trains.
Causing disruption is a no nonsense to commuters.
Too many incidents. SMRT should reslove the problem.

2 years ago, but the refurbishment did not cover the motors etc on the underneath part. So the upper body is new but lower body is old.

I see.... Probably its about time that new trains are needed... and not refurbishments with all the old motors....
