Tanjong Pagar KTM Station to be preserved.
Tracks are to be changed to the standard gauge 1435mm from 1000mm.
Station to used for the future MRT line.
HHPSD to be installed.
The MRT Line could be from Woodlands to Tanjong Pagar via Buona Vista using the orginal KTM line whilst modifiying the track gauge
NW1 - Sungei Kadut
NW10/EW21/CC22 - Buona Vista
NW15/ NE2 - Kampong Bahru (Tanjong Pagar KTM Railway station converted)
I think the NE6 Sungei Kadut that place is impossible.

How about extending it more furthur up to Woodland Checkpoint.. hahas
Using KTM tracks.Changing the track gauage. This MRT line is called North West line
NW2/NS6 - Sungei Kadut
NW3 - Gali Batu
NW4/DT1 - Bukit Panjang
NW5/DT2 - Cashew
NW6/DT3 - Hillview
NW7 - Jalan Anak Bukit
NW8 - Holland Road
NW9 - Mount Sinai
NW10 - Ghim Moh
NW11/EW21/CC22 - Buona Vista
NW12 - Portsdown
NW13 - Alexandra
NW14/WR11 - Bukit Merah
NW15/NE2 - Kampong Bahru (former Tanjong Pagar KTM railway stn)
all station and tracks are on the ground with some exceptions at bukit timah section.
I just want it to be preserved & not turned into smething else,Since this is the (only) Narrow Gauge(Metre Gauge) Railway in Singapore without electric power. And we even get a close up visit of the yard! :(

Underground line?

I remember the STAR LRT line in KL (now part of Rapid KL) was built by conserving the old railway track from Plaza Rakyat to Ampang stretch.

Fantasy but impractical idea:
1: They must install a super long barbered fence like one in between YCK and KTB along KTM tracks
2: They must install 3rd rail / Sub-stations / PG-intake along the tracks
3: If they are going to do as your suggestion, why dont they allow KTM to operate there
4: Your map is exactly preserving the entire KTM route, that duplicates DTL 2 route from Bukit Timah sector. I doubt LTA will ever consider it.
5: I believe the fate of this sector will be the same as the Jurong one, partially disassemble it and please let the bygones be bygones. There is nothing much to preserve there.
Just to add on: KTM trains uses Diesel while Singapore trains will never use Diesel because they banned most vehicles from using Diesel except Motorcycles, Taxis, Lorries and possibly Buses (Those vehicles that are meant to make a living out of it). Hence, it will be a no for MRT / LRT / Rail system to use Diesel ever for environmental reasons. So, it is even confirmed that even if the tracks were to be preserved, it will be just as useless dead tracks.
Maybe the site of TPS will be the future NEL NE02 Kampong Bahru?

It's not underground or aboveground. it's on the ground

You do know that you can't double track the section because of some road bridges, rail bridges and gorges right? You cannot modify them as they are in heavy use by vehicles. And how about level crossings? Electrification? LTA does not want overhead catenary wires to be seen in the open. Third rail? Fence the entire area. What happens if people want to cross the tracks? Cut the fence.
HHPSDs cannot be installed because the platform is too low. Currently, you have to climb the train's ladder to get on board. You cannot modify the track gauge as there will be almost zero clearance between the tracks on Platform 1, the Escape Route and Platform 2. Platform 3 will have to be abandoned if you change it to Standard Gauge. On top of that, if you want a Singapore-style MRT, you have to raise the platform. Being a site to be preserved, URA and SLA says that you cannot modify the building if it is in use for its original purpose - only refurbish. And as what Samuel Lee said, you are duplicating the entire section of the Downtown Line from Bukit Panjang to King Albert Park. LTA will never do that.
You cannot extend the MRT to Woodlands Checkpoint because it will be in use by another MRT line linking JB and Woodlands MRT Station. You cannot build another platform as there is no space there already. You cannot use Woodlands Train Checkpoint because, first of all it's a checkpoint, and second it is in use by KTM.
I believe that you are just creating another fantasy line in this forum again. Try thinking before you post next time, and don't shoot your mouth off too fast.
Off-topic: Samuel Lee, SMRT MOWs operate using diesel because when they need to repair stuff along the track, they will switch off the third rail.
If it is any help, the KTM Komuter was planned to be operating between JB and Singapore as well, but LTA said later on that overhead catenary wires will not be allowed. This 2 pieces of news had no link to each other, but it did destroy the plans of KTM Komuter. If you manage to get into the cab of the EMUs there, they have destos saying "JOHOR BAHRU" and "SINGAPORE". I have no pictures of it though.

Pai seh, forgotten that. Thanks for the clarification, but then it is not as widely used as daily train service. I am not too sure if there are any other exceptions to the use of diesel as well, but I am trying to point out that the use of diesel is limited and controlled due to environmental reasons. (And since either diesel / petrol [almost] must be used on the vehicles if there is no electirifcation on to the vehicle, like the MOWs, are used to "make a living" by SMRT / Rail companies [Just like Bus companies uses Buses to make a living]. So no petrol for [SMRT] MOWs.)

No need to be so mean la, I think while it is an fantasy but not practical, but who knows if LTA will provide another line to cover it?
You very funny person... LOL
You have posted this map a lot! Even my MSN also...
Anyway, you supporting this plan? Don't know true or not.

hate to break it to you but
fact 1: North west is already covered by DTL stage 2
fact 2 :West north north is again covered by thomson line (TSL)
fact 3: theres a forum showing tender for TSL to interface with a NEL station, maybe NE2 or outram , furthermore , it to run parallel with EWL for 350 meters, do a google on it and re-think the additional info, since it could change what we think of now.
TSL is a 4 part tender, 23 station and 30km long , starting at woodlands and ending at the marina area.
At first I thought you guys were sincere in discussing about what will happen after 1 July 2011.
Turns out it's a fantasy thread.
Ah the line can go all the way to JB.
Line name: JB Xpress

but the line needs to be either elevated, underground or both. it cant be on-the-ground. if its on-the-ground, the tracks need HEAVY fencing
Hmm, there is a thin line between Fantasy and Sincere in discussing future developments as there is a thing called dream come true. Well, one got dream to build a nation then got the future developments what. Especially true if there is a lack of available information on future plans.
Information flows from top down.
Transport Museum, preservation, move, etc. ??
From bottom up you see the big sky.
From top down you see the big picture.
Can always demolish and wipe away bad memories of relations with the neighbour up north
hmm. can convert into a flee market or a shopping centre.
Sunday flee market. The flee market on the tracks. unique
