SMRT
basically a few reason
firstly- can SBS transit afford another loss in profit ??, what is at stake here is the entire line, both profitable and those making a loss, how many profitable ones here can offset the ones making losses?
secondly-based on current layouts, i like to ask those who in favour of KCD running 2 operators, have the depot at ponggol been shared ?? sinces it's SBST turf there too.
thirdly- id KCD was to be sharded, it would create a magnitude of issues to be resolved, we must not forget, that although KCD by far is the largest, it's size was meant to accommodate trains from 2 lines, that is CCL and partly DTL,the share part would create a bunch of traffic problems within the depot iself.
lastly- i would encourage those who voted for SBST, try some part time work there, it's a different story altogether there, (btw the newspaper on that reporter that work as a customer service ambassador in smrt is kinda accurate )
on the hindsight, many think voting sbst maybe a simple issue, but seriously it is not, there are many things and factors to consider before the line goes awarded to the party.
SMRT can afford the losses because it has managed to somehow convert it empty spaces to shopping or mini shopping centres to offset the losses.
^ agree
SMRT has created XChanges
Raffles Place XChange
has SBST done any?
but they (SBST) offset it with bus rationalisation
DTL is on 3rd rail i think ...

DTL 3rd rail one. No more OHLE line in near future. (Unless there is another line extends from Punggol, which could jolly well be North Shore Line? Or Sengkang depot [Can it take more trains?] -- that might be "Seletar Line".)

might as well change NEL to 3rd rail ...

Are you looking down on sbst? They are good and humble and their rail services are good in some way.
i don't promote fanboyism on that, but looking at the past , the facts have not favoured SBST well
as i said, it not only on the customer service or good service that they produce, in finance matters is more like on SBST rail itself if they can afford the upkeep of the stations for the rights to operate time frame that matters most LTA is taking this very seriously on this POV
incase you don't understand, SMRT has used it's space to create shops. not for the fun of it but to generate income, which could be used to maintain the upkeep of it's non-profitable stations. tell me frankly- which SBST station have done this??
take for e.g if bungkok is not making any profit or not earning enough for it's maintenance cost, it would have to rely on a very busy station like e.g habour front to cover for it's loss, so basically if the total line maint cost was put vs the generated cost, the reminder would be either a profit or loss, which in SBST case was a loss for some time.
now they have recovered but you also need to look at the DTL stations covered by the line, which is a likely quiet station?? which is a busy bustling station?, how many busy stations vs quiet ones?
what their report has said is a projection, the profit earned back to recover, time used is only an estimate , theres much "unforeen circimstances" that will only appear when it's actually running, this too add up to cost.
this alone is a very solid reason why the facts may favour SMRT.

No. NSL & EWL are cheaper, that's why some of them chose SMRT. I am one of them.

Thanks for all those who change to vote SMRT! Now SBST had no more chances to win the tender!

But our polls has no effect on the decision of the operator. Who knows, SMRT and SBST may not be the operator ?

We know. But SBST and SMRT are the same liao.
Because SBST = NEL, SKLRT, PKLRT, SBS buses more than SMRT buses!!!!

Besides being in charge of the subway system in HK, it operates metro lines in cities such as Beijing (Line 4), Melbourne and Stockholm. So why not they come to Singapore to and show how good they can operate the DTL?? This will stimulate competition between the local operators (SBST & SMRT) and the overseas operator, thus adding pressure on SBST & SMRT and improve their standards (which I really hope to see).
Inpossible. Look at the title.

I would really love MTRC to run the DTL. But it's unlikely. Sigh...

Then who do you want to vote? SMRT? SBST?

also reported before in the news that DTL will be handed over either to SMRT or SBST, and no other companies.
