i choose Transtar.
Downtown line is most likely to be under SMRT. Reason being is because the depot is at Kranji.

Transtar ? Why not Grassland or Hong Thai ?
Woodlands transport

The depot for Downtown Line is at Woodlands Road, not Kranji... The bus depot is deep inside Kranji....
If you say like this, then SMRT shouldnt have AMDEP liao...
SBST shouldnt have BBDEP also.

Just nice...SMRT hold 1/4 of Singapore, SBST hold 3/4 of Singapore :D

The Gali Batu Depot is at Woodlands Road. Oh well, it is definitely planned to have an extension from current Bukit Panjang to Kranji, it was not announced but foreseeable prediction because of their cheapo design to follow closely to road, at an expense of not interchanging with the LRT station (Unless they planned to do BPMP - Bukit Panjang LRT Modification Project, in conjunction with the re-development of Ten Mile Junction, then .....) and by following the road, it will lead to Kranji, and most likely interchange it. (But it will be an expense of building for about 2 or 3 ghost stations like Bukit Brown, so cannot.)
SBS Transit.
TIBS failure to get the Circle Line was its final nail in the coffin. Who gets the contract would decide the climate of competition for our public transportation for the next decade - whether we would remain as bus company vs rail company, or a more fairer competition with both modes of transport.
I hoped DTL SMRT and SBST TSL and ERL and other future lines
1) would rather hear "Ding dong, Please do not lean on the train doors. Next Station, DT3 Hillview" than to hear "Deng deng deng deng deng , Next Station, DT3 Hillview...山景"
2) SMRT has more experience in operating MRT.
3) This is the one that most of you can't point: STARIS. Since C151s and C651 have STARIS, and C951s will also have something like STARIS, therefore, SMRT should also deserve operating DTL as it has about 1.5-2 years of experience operating STARIS.
Originally posted by TIB1051D:actually, i would cast my votes on SMRT. firstly, due to the fact that DTL and CCL are sharing the same depot at KCD. next, if i remember correctly, it has once been said that DTL and CCL are operating on the same signalling systems. it's high likely that SMRT will win the tender.
Yes, their signalling system is the same (or maybe just compatible) so that C951s can go to the temporary maintainence depot at Marina Bay CCL. BUT In order not to have any disruptions or what so ever. A TEMPORARY OCC Will be build at KCD

Please get your facts right first.
The Desiro units are being used for another rail operator, that connects the Sentral Kuala Lumpur station to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport - not KTM.
It is operated by ERL, Express Rail Link Sdn. Bhd, in which there are two service: KLIA Transit and KLIA Ekspres. Both of these two services shares the same line - only the KLIA Ekspres is a non-stop service between Sentral KL and KLIA.
ERL is a standard gauge and electrified (by catenary wires) airport rail link in Malaysia. They run on maximum 160km/h.
actually is hoping for another new operator, not SMRT or SBS Transit (Comfort Delegro)
but i dunno other transport companies names. I thought of TIBS, but now it's part of SMRT.
Me: Vote SMRT to operate DTL.
SBS Transit
1) SBS Transit is the first rail operator to announce that they will be tendering for the Downtown MRT Line. (This may seem like an invalid reason, but it is true)
2) SBS Transit needs more MRT lines to compete with SMRT Trains.
3) SBS Transit can provide better bus rationalisation plans than SMRT Buses.
I go with SMRT because they have more experience in MRTs
i rather vote SMRT. at least not annoying announcement like SBST NEL
Neither/none, because this poll cannot even predict who will be the operator.
I choose SMRT.
if im nt wrong, the govt actually alternates the operator for all the new MRT lines, starting wif NEL (correct me if im wrong). so, NEL: sbs, CCL: smrt, DTL: sbs

Well, judging by the looks of it, it were like alternates, then this poll wouldn't really have surfaced.
LTA has mentioned a 3rd competitor company to operate transport services in competition to the existing duploy structure. But no details has been mentioned yet.
However,
SMRT may get because
--> Main RTS operator which operates a small bus network
--> Operating rail services since 1987
--> More experiences
SBS Transit may get because
--> Main bus operator which operates a single RTS line, need more RTS line to balance
--> Failed to obtain tender to operate Circle Line
Finally my final vote still goes to SMRT =D
One funny trend I noticed...
SBS Transit, though traditionally operating bus routes, has better trains... better seats and better frequencies than SMRT...
Its bus routes are freaking long with many twists and turns in the neighbourhood areas...and bunching pretty often...
While
SMRT, though traditionally operating train routes, has better buses... and also more direct bus routes than SBS Transit....
Its trains are usually cramped up to the maximum... and the seats aint comfortable...
If you compare the seats on NEL and CCL... I would say NEL seats are more comfortable.
