I may wish to give to FirstGroup PLC, for Downtown Line. Arriva will be Thomson Line and Eastern Region Line.

Big company that exists in UK, USA, Canada, Denmark and Sweden. If it enters Singapore soil it would be the first one to do there.

FirstGroup is terrible. Try Grand Central.
I go for SMRT

looking at the MRT blueprint set out it seems like Thomson Line and Eastern Region Line will be one long line together like the DTL passing thru Orchard, Great World, Outram Park and Marina Bay areas before heading east.Anyway, SBST gets my vote for DTL.
My article's final decision for DTL will be SMRT while under the pretext of Thomson Line and Eastern Region Line will be 2 separate lines.
Most likely, even if DTL will not connect CCL as 3 carriage Alstom version of NSL/EWL and TSL / ERL are merged [into XXL, name not given.], DTL will still be given to SMRT, while SBST to take both TSL & ERL (TSL in SMRT territory is mainly on Woodlands alone, as the line goes to Mandai, it is quite shared --- [138 Zoo Bus], and by then it reaches Kebun Bharu and so on, it is SBST territory.).
This is because, LTA will trust SMRT to better manage DTL overall (NEL is just starting to be profitable, I doubt SBST had taken their $5b back yet --- NEL construction cost was $4.6b) while for TSL / ERL case, by then NEL should be profitable enough for SBST to takeup another line, such that "to foster competition".
SMRT. =)

whether e $4.6bn is recovered or not does not matter to SBS.
You're sounding as if SBS or SMRT is e one folking out e money to build e MRT under BOT. The additional 22 trains as if is paid using SMRT's $$.
if like tis I'm all to say SMRT will not bid, $33bn CCL haven't recover yet, CCLe, CCL4/ 5 not completed yet.
In any case w/ e new ops contract, SBS or SMRT will 'handover' all ops to LTA. They're just operating it purely e train ops. Property will be fully owned by LTA (back to MRTC era).
DTL is a nice competitor line to have.... SBS should really get it.
in any case, SBS and not SMRT now carries e heaviest utilised MRT line.. NEL
1.6m -> 95km compass line.
400,000 -> 20km NEL
LTA control is much more better! Would be better to see a new livery of the train..
I choose SMRT

If the government dares to open up the rail industry to more competition, my money will lie on Arriva Plc — now owned by Deutsche Bahn DB AG.
Few months back when I was in Vienna, I had the chance to speak to Mr Stuckl, in-charge for rail transportation CorpComms at Siemens AG's subsidiary Vienna office in Floridsdorf. He was telling me, and two Finnish rail spotters, that Siemens is looking East in its expansion strategy. It is an open secret that Siemens is boosting up its Asian presence, having sold Desiro units to KTM in Malaysia and to SRT in Thailand.
Expect no less than a tender by Siemens for its Desiro units to be used in local transport here if there is going to be one. And it is a huge misconception that Desiro units can only be powered by catenary; third rail systems can be installed.
SBST for me
Current Polling list:
SBS :
SMRT :

for buses and rail, there's only SBST and SMRT la...
i chose SBST cos they are more zai in terms of their bus and rail services together
actually, i would cast my votes on SMRT. firstly, due to the fact that DTL and CCL are sharing the same depot at KCD. next, if i remember correctly, it has once been said that DTL and CCL are operating on the same signalling systems. it's high likely that SMRT will win the tender.
DTL shld be SMRT because it shares the depot with CCL
i remember DTL & CCL lines is based from Kim Chuan depot ?
