Urrgh... they said they will release the operator name in September but now is October le... i think there's a delay

Here are some reasons why:
1.) Can SBST take the loss when they only open a small stretch of 6 Stations of DTL 1? (2013) It's just a small stretch around the city & benchmarks will be most probably below average.
2.) When they first start DTL 1, the trains will come from KCD (Kim Chuan Depot) , not GBD (Gali Batu Depot) as GBD has yet to be completed on 2013. Expect SMRT and SBST to have disputes over the depot? Unless both companies can work together and peace out.
3.) SMRT has xchanges (as mentioned) that actually helps a lot as it pays for the loss when DTL 1 starts running.
4.) SMRT is RICH enough to continue making loss unlike SBST. If SBST were to take the future DTL and when DTL 1 starts running, mayb a few days (exagarration) later you will see the NEL owned by SMRT .
5.) Although i admit that SBST has good quality customer service (I seen alot.) and SMRT needs MAJOR IMPROVEMENT on their services (no rasist, to tell you the truth, those foreign (Bangla) staffs are getting out of hand.) esp bus drivers -.-, SMRT shuld suffer. Cos their custoemr service Bi bu liao SBST.
Dun forget NEL was not making $$ in e first place.
Exchanges also no use. DTL contract is almost everything belongs to LTA incl retail space if it materialises, they only run purely e MRT le. Somemore gotta contribute a fraction of e profits to LTA as MRT sinking funds.
It's not going to be as profitable as anymore for SMRT.

NEL now started to profit le.
Yeah, especially CBD.

SMRT will bid for all of the future lines.

Maybe they said that the year is 2011? If you can't remember go back to see the source again...
Looks like, according to Straits Times, SBST will get the tender.
Looks like, the share depot and everything has been solved...
Looks like, I would need a copy of KCD layout... :O :P

they bid or dun bid, the new contracts from DTL onwards is not to any advantage to them..
no more SMRT Xchanges as everything is state owned. they only run e train system only.. still gotta contribute a sinking fund
sort of a bit of BOT, a bit of state owned.
few days ago the newspaper said... the Downtown Line operator Tender opens.
And they have said.. It's only between SBS Transit and SMRT.
Analyist said SBS will win
Nooo ! I want SMRT !
seriously from NEL & CCL's ops record..
so far SBS is much better.
CCL started kena dwell time problem and wat's not.
SBST may tender
STRAITS TIMES SAY. But still not comfirmed.... then why they go and say? (wasting paper leh) I would rather wanna know the cause of such delays.
put it into perspective
Phase I commencement effect
New contract: It's obvious disadvantage to SMRT because it's a bit of BOT, bit of operating buses kind of contract. You gotta pay for the assets in an annual basis. Right now, SMRT operates the train at no cost from LTA and gets to keep the profit.
Tat's why how come SMRT is most profitable in the world, no liability over assets.
So if anyone still remembers wat SPH says her co purchased 22 trains for next yr, think again. It's using taxpayers $$ not her's.
Bus Svs: If SBS were to get DTL, tat's it for SMRT. As ppl at CCK, BPJ, Upp Bt Timah heading to town will switch to DTL, SMRT will face their biggest nightmare ever in biggest plunge of bus revenue overnight.
But as the bus sv tendering process is due to begin, the actual impact remains to be seen.
Good lo, 42km line! smrt may still have a 0.1 chance. ;0
Let me summurise Stages 1 / 2 and area DTL serves:
City:
============end of the Bukit Timah Road=========================
The company tat tender won't earn money from DT1 to DT10 (except for Beauty World), based on my thinking. I describe it as 'got not much there', especially King Albert Park.
put it for DTL1 1st, cos it's going to be the only source of revenue for the initial difficult years
BPJ & CCK: Faster ride to town
Upp Bt Timah: 67 can kiss goodbye to good old days.
Bt Timah: Not much expected because of bus frequency issue i.e. 74 to AMK or need to x-fer to buses to get to NP or SIM eventually.
SBST would ve to kick away precious service. Tender???!!??!

DTL1's impact to SBS is almost zero except for Sv 170.
Im not referring to DTL1. (Gocha) Im refrring to DTL2 .And can I change options? Put me at the None section then.
DTL2...
SBS's area, they get ok nvm
SMRT get, mmm....
but tis 1 is 4 yrs aft commencement. Still nid to contribute to sinking fund

He hadn't put your name in the list before, so this is not counted changing options.
SMRT deserve it more than sbs transit...
Ops, forgotten the topic was on full wing before I step in.
Anybody can scan article or something?
Honestly, operating a MRT line kinda only have profits to earn rather than making losses.
Loses from the start probably.
