This is a continuation of the same thread, but now is part 2, the revival. Ask me which want I like, I will certainly say it's...not Juanita Melson. I like the Chan Hui Yuh announcements cos :
1) S'pore is greying, needed a younger talent pool urgently and TADA!! (+1)
2) JM-so naggy, CHY-go straight to the point (+1)
3) part of PAP (if you google her name +1)
Ask many ppl in my class this yr, and 100% voted for CHY, 0% JM. Same for other class.
I support wenjie639, who is also an avid CHY announcements fan.
For JM lovers, listen to the CHY announcements carefully and clearly, it's not
Bra-Ba-Ha or Bras-Bra-Sah, it's pure and natural Bras-Basah.

What has being part of PAP a plus point for CHY? I dont get it because it is not like as if PAP had did nothing wrong (Speakers Corner please) and no party / human in the world is perfect.
If you want to compare the announcement, then keep it to announement related, such as your point 2, possibly point 1 also. The 3rd one is totally unrelated, regardless you and / or your parents is a avid PAP voter.
This has nothing to do with politics. Do not bring up politics in a discussion about train announcements. And anyway, being part of the PAP doesn't have to do with anything.
CHY has one major flaw, IMO - she can never stick to one accent. She has a natural Singaporean accent, sometimes she forces a British accent, and sometimes she forces an American accent. Consistency is key in announcements. Stick to one of the three (although I do hope she doesn't pick the Singaporean accent... -_-) and always use it.
I will never completely like her unless she re-records the announcement for Yishun.
Juanita all the way.
this is just yet another thread that is created and wasting the bandwidth of the server. each has their own likes and dislikes, and i don't even think that it is necessary to post it up. lock up this thread please.

what is an Ex-CSO? her name?
i feel that JM > CHY
i dont think straight to point or what, affect my rating
but at times ppl do say that too much variance in accents in voice-over is a big no
but certainly different language may need different accent ...

When i mean CHY go straight to the point i mean this:
"Next station, Outram Park interchange. Passengers who are continuing their journey on the North East Line, please alight at the next station."
"Outram Park interchange. Passengers who are continuing their journey on the North East Line, please alight...Outram Park interchange..."
Whilst for JM:
"Next stop, Outram Park interchange. passengers going towards HarbourFront or Punggol, please alight at the next stop."
"Outram park interchange. Passengers going towards HarbourFront or Punggol, please alight and transfer to another train at the North east line. Outram Park interchange."

You clearly have not been on the Circle Line.

CHY:
Bishan interchange
passengers who are continuing their journey towards Jurong East Interchange or Marina Bay, please alight and proceed to the North-South Line.
Bishan Interchange. please mind the platform gap
(yes the doors opened in the middle of the second part!)

i've been on CCL. i'm just using East West Line announcements for comparisons between JM and CHY, cause before CHY, CCL is still under construction.
Btw, only a few CCL announcements MAY sound great with JM
watched this vide on youtube, then 4 mins++ got JM announcements, but that was when the C830s just arrived in Singapore from France.

i prefer the doors to open after ".......platform gap" like on EWL and NSL. maybe SMRT is just being creative to use the in-train announcement to remind commuters to mind the platform gap

Are you kidding me? At this point, I'm wondering if you're just desperately trying to find some way to cover your butt because you're losing the argument.

Bro, I will apologise publicly here for the 'debate'. I will respect your choice of JM being sounding great. Let's bury the hatchet and that I will declare that this thread will be all about the nostalgic moments of JM instead of CHY. CHY can talk another time. now is JM.
After watching some JM announcemnts vid, I had a sudden change in mind. Indeed, JM sounds better with just one accent.
I prefer Indian Ex-CSO. No offence.

For NEL announcements? But it would be great if the LRT announcements are made by the Indian Ex-CSO.
JM 100% better than CHY!
it varies. JM announcement for Tiong Bahru is great. But as for CHY, she pronounced tiong bahru in a mono-tone, it really sux
