Featured on ytd 15/05/10 Ch 8 evening news.
Reported that only 1000 ppl take this monorail per day and the ticket is S$7.
It's a 5.45km line with 4 stations (only 2 is operational now).
SMRT said it's an investment opportunity as part of their effort to expand overseas.
1000 ppl / day? so low ridership...

Speaking of woodleigh, it reminds me that Chai Chee has the demand equal to a MRT station

This is what they call long-term investment. They think in a few years time the ridership would increase lol...

but palm project whole thing topple le.
Even Nakheel almost 'run road'
SMRT is operating the line
Going slightly OT here
SVC 222 has a demand equal to a LRT system / 1 MRT station.
In the morning 6:55am - 7:10am.
Buses come every 40 seconds or less. 2/3 of them are spare buses.
Doesnt Chai Chee has a higher demand than Woodleigh?
Despite the tiny area it is serving now it has
1 ITE ( College Central )
1 International School
East Coast Primary
Ping Yi Secondary
SATA
Industrial factories
The worst thing is, it goes only in 1 direction =.=
People going from Chai Chee Drive gotta walk or sacrifice $$ to get to the other side of Chai Chee =.=
Thanks to its history which is Chai Chee that was built on a hill and surrounded by landed properties, They cannot build a MRT here. Maybe an LRT but, the roads are too narrow =.= Bedok is too big ( Jurong is BIGGER!! From EW24 all the way to EW29 Joo Koon, but havent end yet still gt extension!! )
