Not sure if this is the right place to post but it's about trains..
Anyway, it seems like people who are young and able simply refuse to give up their seats to the needy. WHY?

do you give up ur seat to the elderly and pregnant women yourself in the train?
ive seen many young singaporeans give up seats to elderly
it's the foreigners who got their butts glued on the reserve seat

Yeah of course...but I can only give up one seat at most what...sometimes there are more than 1 person in the cabin who needs the seat and people just sit there without feeling shame

Actually the people I'm gripping about are the "young" singaporeans...in fact nowadays everyone seems to have a bo chup attitude
Mostly, people would give up their seats to old people either they're carrying heavy groceries or injured. The PCK stickers pasted on the windows were supposed to encourage young people to give up their seats to the elderly. Now, they are taken off, I'm not sure they would do the right thing.

i definitely do.
younger people are damn self centred and rude to older people.
i witnessed on many occasions.
Of course bo chup them what. We acutally pay the higher fare than those eldery people but we couldn't seat? What the hack is this? You think, imagine if we going from 1 end to 1 end, wil you going to stand?! NO WAY!! $1.50++ ask me stand...
Simply because people are too tired after working, they need to sit and rest in the train.
If you want to see how fast a country has developed just observe closely how the young people behave socially. They are in opposite directions.
Young foreigners move forwards, your young local move backwards.

Yes you could look at it that way also.
FTs upgrade while struggling peasants downgrade summore>
In Japan, they have three kinds of seats.
PRIORITY SEATS - For those who take the seat first. Its for tired people to sleep.
LOVE GIVING SEATS - To be given up to the elderly / needy.
NORMAL SEATS
I dunno why Singapore uses the word priority... cos it can actually also mean... since I sit first, I get the priority not to give up the seat to others.
Later on, I will be observing the youngsters on the street...

actually, the PCK Sticker discourages me from doing that.
got one time i saw this teenager with leg in cast
when the door opened, he hopped in and sat on the reserve seat and happily said, yes! i finally can sit here oredi~~~~~

This is the most sensible reply.Yes,that PCK sticker is poor taste and a mockery of the whole idea.

I travel from the east to west almost everyday (45min journey) and I give up my seat when I need to...You should be ashamed of yourself. If you're tired then the old uncles and aunties not tired ah? Somemore you are physically fitter than them. Imagine it's your parents/grandparents standing and no one offers them a seat.
You are just the kind of person I'm posting about
I realise most of the time, the people who give their seats to the elderly are..
*** drumroll**
answer: other elderly people!!!!!!! Such a difficult scene to see, imagine the scene have tourists what would they think..
I always keep a lookout for needy/elderly/preggie when i am seated
Whenever in Hongkong MTR, i see the young are always readily to give up their seats and then there will be exchange of thanks n welcomes

Elderly people tend to look out for each other cuz they know they cant rely much on the younger generation
