Lets start this topic by commenting about our Train Frequencies for ALL MRT lines in Singapore
I realise on today, all bounds seems to be very crowded and when every train passes by... It gives a hard time for commuters to board inside the train..
Honesty speaking, train frequencies seems to be lag enough and SMRT need to facilitate this situation..Much trains sleeping in depots can be a factor as ppl dun work on Sundays
Saturday train frequency is better than Sundays.
Based on my observations:
Average waiting time per train on Sat: 4.5mins
Average waiting time per train on Sun: 6mins
Of course, Sunday freq. beats non-peak hr frequency.
Average waiting time per train during non-peak: 8mins
MRT frequencies
Peak-hours: 2-4 mins (EW-NS Lines)
Off-peak hours: 7 mins (EW-NS Lines) (weekdays only)
Weekend Service: 4-6 mins (EW-NS Lines)
Peak hours: 2-5 mins (NE Line)
Off-peak hours: 4-7 mins (NE Line)
Weekend Service: 6 mins (NE Line)
Circle Line: 4 mins
I got a question, why does SMRT stations nowadays does not show any train with waiting time (Next train time) is more than 6 mins?
It used to be showing the trains with a frequency of 12 mins. It will be useful for Changi Airport Branch Line and Off peak hours where a 7 min frequency would make people think that how come no train information for the first 1 ~ 2 mins.
PS: I know NEL can show like until 99 minutes because I used to live at Sengkang and know that the morning train, there will be a waiting frequency of ~ 40 - 60 mins (To wait for the first train) in areas before Buangkok (It was closed during that time) -- I meant Punggol Bound, probably because there is no train along the line and thus must wait until the first train reached Harbourfront and turn back to Punggol.
I know in Ten Mile Junction that when a train just leave, the display system can only display trains within 12 ~ 15 mins of waiting time BUT they have some poster and notice to inform the passengers!

If i'm not wrong, it's because after someone saw it, he STOMPed it, saying why frequency is so low (Next train, 8 mins, after that next one is 15 mins), and so SMRT decided to stop displaying timings of train arrival beyond 6mins.
IMO, they shouldn't do that. It'll look as if there's no more train svc, and may confuse commuters.
IMO, they should increase the number of train trips on Sun as the demand for transportation movement is larger...

For weekdays , non-rush hours , 3 to 5 mins. Rush hours 1-3 mins.
For weekends , non-rush hours , 1-4 mins.
NEL and CCL frequencies are bad on weekends and weekdays , 6-8 mins.

SMRT should also show the RATIS up to 99 mins.
at some times of the peak hour, once u miss a certain train, next train is 4mins,which means thats it.every sec,the platform which i usually board(boon lay ) pple r comin up.it improve a little wif the opening of the boon lay extensions.
Sometimes when I was waiting a SB train at TPY, RATIS for NB showing is 5 mins, but SB RATIS is showing 3 mins.. However in the end, NB train arrived at TPY first, faster than SB...

the best part comes when the display @ the concourse shows nothing after both trains passed at the same time and the subsequent trains are >6mins...

Only some NSL stations like Choa Chu Kang , Woodlands. Up till now , I've not seen both blank.
When they purposely put train arrvial below 6 mins in the first place, I was shocked too as I tot train service had "broke Down"???
For me, it is better to keep the train frequencies for NS-EW lines in 5 to 6 mins during weekdays off-peak so as not to wait longer for it.
And the train should be driving faster, but do not drive at a slow speed (especially the NS line) during the peak time.
Just now , I was at Punggol and I only saw a maximum of 24 mins but actually quite good already.
Which means the 24 mins train is at around Dhoby Ghaut and from Punggol can see how long to reach PGL already.

If you can, try to get on to Buangkok or Hougang during 5:30 ~ 6am and notice the Punggol bound train. You will be amazed. Things might have changed since.

It might be too early for me.

You went it before at the early morning?
I only like train frequencies during peak hours.
