One of the worst in the world.
1) The train is moving too slowly. At certain stretches, the train can be slower than a bus.
2) Its too crowded. Japan, though the trains are crowded during peak hours, are not as crowded during off peak hours. For Singapore, during off peak hours, just cut down the number of trains on the tracks to save costs and earn more.
3) The train system does not serve all towns in Singapore. And also, in towns like Bukit Panjang, travelling on a bus is faster than taking a train.

I agree with you , on all points.

I miss the days when train service was really a service, rather than a brand as it is now... When waiting times were naturally at most 5 minutes on NSL off-peak, unlike flaunting the fact about adding "really a lot of" trips to improve frequency now when something really wrong happened somewhere some time ago...
Those days were around 2001, + or - 1 year... before NEL started.
Those were the days when 7 minutes (or longer) waiting time most probably meant the train was delayed.
I feel like going back to old times. (1980s , 1990s)
