Got off at Commonwealth this morning to go to school on a C751B - with rubber around the metal windowframe around the windows of the train doors. As I alighted, another C751B arrived at the opposite platform with the rubber removed from the windowframe, something I haven't seen before. The number displayed in the rear cab (train was travelling westwards) was 024 (sorry, I don't know the train numbering system). Does anyone know about this?
does the westbound C751B have an aerodynamic front end or is it just a refurb C151?
I'm sure it was a C751B. The train number display was an orange LED display. Refurbished C151s still use the old flip-dot display.

C151s DO NOT use the flip dot display; only C651s do

No. C651s uses the flip-dot display. C151s (refurbish and non refurbished) uses the roller blind, only C751Bs uses the LED display.
And all C751Bs doesn't have a "0" in the first and second digit, so I believe what you saw was a C151.

No, i believe he was referring to the TRN of the C751B.
This is a life or death question. So mrtdude, which is the door frame you saw on the C751B?
Is it a)
Or is it B)

Based on what I heard, 311-312 has window frames like a refurbished C151.

My guess it's a C751B with train run number 024 as some of you guys had guess.

If I've not mistaken, frames on some doors of 351/352 also look like the C151R's.
Looks like it's rust.
there is a C751B running around with metal door windowframe.

All are, they just have a black coating.
I caused confusion, I believe. :P
I meant the plastic rollers for C151s, sorry... and I'm certain it was a C751B. If I can catch a photo of it on my way to school on Monday, I'll post it. Some doors had the black covering, and some didn't, if that helps.
What you might have seen is 311/312 or 351/352, it's pretty (not so) rare to see them, since I saw them on EWL today.
I think they use black thin rubber
I thought it's 311-312 which has this kind of windowframes. I didn't know that 351-352 also had it.

Are you sure that 351-352 has silver door frames? Watch my vid of 351-352:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWumR76bTJE. It seems that 351/352 does not have it......
I'm sure of what I saw. Since I always seem to be taking a C751B every morning that leaves Lakeside at around 7:42 on my watch, I think I'll see the rubberless train arriving at Commonwealth when I arrive. I'll make sure that I snap a pic of it if I see it tomorrow.
i personally saw a C751,passing by the train i was on. the door of the c751 indeed have a silver window frame on exterior.maybe its due to weathering, the colour has dropped off.
325/326 also has the window frame little shiny AFAIK...
Obviously not the best example, but an example nevertheless. The stage-right windowframe of the set of doors I captured has some of the black removed. I got on a C751B on the way home, and felt the windowframe outside - it's paint. I think the paint has just weathered off.
Case closed, I guess.
