That's just a starting pay, which tests your interests in train operating and preserverance.

They will check your medical records so no point lying.

Is it? How you know? Cos less than 1k, how to earn a living like this right? Do you guys agree?

If you think this way, then most likely, the whole world would be jobless.

Haha you're right. Hopefully SMRT will inrease the pay of TO every few months? Haha!

This, and also because you have to have a good sense of hearing to diagnose if the train has faults. It is crucial for safe operation of the trainset.
On a rainy day, you must use your sense of hearing as well as feel, to know if the train is losing traction on braking or accelerating - the sound made is a rough vibrating noise.

But i wear hearing-aids on both ears to help me hear better..

At least, give me a chance lar, to prove to others that i can carry out the job!!Im not totally DEAF!!!!
don't worry, there's still other job scopes available that's for sure..
so dun give up all rite..
Yep, even if it doesn't but if you have quick reaction and a good sense of controlling, you can always apply to be in the control centre, since the MAIN Control Centre is just a backup, The station master controls the tracks while the main control centre just use GPS to detect the train location to prevent a CRASH and communicates with the CSO. Anyway good luck !

You can be a Customer Service Officer.

No they don't use GPS they use track signals.

I already submit my application online=)

Yea That Said That When STARIS was First intro and Showed on news. they said that with the New Staris they dun nid install new Track Signals to detect the train Position for the Staris.

Not really, from what I know, STARIS determines the train position based on distance travelled by the train, which is why SMRT did not need to upgrade/change it's current signalling system to accomodate STARIS. Anyone may correct me if I am wrong about this.

STARIS so buggy, how can? If they use STARIS as the signalling system, sure ....

But can achieve 1 min frequency anot?

AFAIK, I heard of this as well, but this is why it is so buggy, unless they have a complicated program to determine the distance travelled with a fixed formula (Like certain train surely go to certain line, etc....) (So meaning, no need to spot trains, once we know the formula behind on train deployment)
Dont forget that there is distance travelled by train even if the train goes to depot / slidings (Like OTP LTE / Yew Tee peak hour service etc)
Even if u figured it out, you cant post it, its trade secrets
Maybe the programming is something like this
*Detects CSP within 5cm* Shows Red
*Train moving* Flash
*Stops at least 1 min* Reset STARIS
*PSR-TPN <km here>* Flash TPN station
*TPN-SIM (Distance between PSR to TPN CSP + Distance between TPN and SIM CSP* Off TPN, flash SIM
*TO re-calibrates STARIS* Do Christmas lights dance and re-calibrate itself
*At JKN* TO Resets STARIS , Change Direction
*Crossover from BBT to JRE EB* Arrive @ JRE and reset STARIS
I am just speculating lol

STARIS should have some pre-programmed and not by timing. like eg
Program 1 - do this and that
Program 2 - another this and that
and so on

Tampines= TAM (not TPN)
Jurong East= JUR (not JRE)

1: It cant be detect the CSP within 5cm. 50m is more likely, because, the red light shows once it reaches the station and not right before opening of doors.
2: As I have boarded DNB trains before, I can attest that the AMK bound train (Peak hour from JUR) indeed the STARIS flash as Jurong East / Bukit Batok until when it is approaching depot or so.
3: For other peak hour service that just crossover from the slidings and return to take paxes, it is simply shows back the first station of it (I remembered somehow)
4: For those non DNB cases, extreme special trains such as TNM - OTP LTE (As they just came out from depot, you can board it at any station before ALJ and after TNM at about 11:50am), STARIS dont work until ALJ. (One of the cases is even showing TNM, XPO and CGA but all 3 are green, wondering if that is a crossover train from CGL or not)
Hmm how come is it off topic now? Lol.. I was searching for Train Officers. hhahaha
