This is definitely not a thread on LTE (Lunchtime Express). Heck, the term itself is misleading too since it's just a service that reduces the frequency between each train during lunchtime period. Anyway, let me start the topic proper.
This thread will contain all suggestions and fantasies fellow train enthusiatic have for the REAL "Express Service" in Singapore train network. But there's a catch, you're suppose to create the service using existing infrastructure while not degrading the efficiencies of other train services and explain how it would work. You are not suppose to suggest a route that requires new infrastructure to be built or a change in infrastructure (though you can make changes to services such as Airport Shuttle, LTE, Yishun Shuttle, Yew Tee shuttle etc to meet your needs, as changing these are not considered a "infrastructure change"). And not to forget, while you make up the service, you may also provide a mock timetable for both direction to demonstrate how this will work in real life.
Lastly, you may make use of any infrastructure that are finalized and is currently being built. The new NSL platform at Jurong East Interchange is a very good example of this.
Someone asked this question a few months ago....
I suggest EWL express svc to stop at: PSR, TAM, TMN, BDK, PYL, BGS, CTH, RFP, TGP, OTP, TIB, BNV, JRE, BNL, JKN
Some stations got crossover tracks , maybe can use back again.
For EWL stop at : PSR , TAM , TNM , BDK , PYL , KAL , BGS , CTH , RFP , OTP , RDH , COM , BNV , CLE , JUR , BNL and JKN.
For NSL stop at : JUR , BBT , CCK , KRJ , ADM , KTB , YCK , BSH , TAP , ORC , SOM , DBG , CTH , RFP and MRB.
For NSL >MarinaBay: WDL, YIS, YCK, TAP, ORC-MRB.
>JurongEast: AMK, YIS, SEM, WDL, CCK, BGB, JUR.
For EWL>PasirRis: BNL, JUR, BNV, TiongBahru-KAL, PYL, Enos, TNM-PSR.
>JKN: PSR, TAM, BDK, PYL, KAL-TiongBahru, BNV, CLE, JUR-JKN.
Is it possible to have an 'Airport Express'?>RFP-BGS, Expo, CGA. (30mins frequency)
Theorically, it is impossible to create new express services for overtaking without constructing new platforms. But it is possible to still create the following services :
Town Express :
Choa Chu Kang -xover> Jurong East (old/new track) -> Bunoa Vista -> Otraum Park -> Tanjong Pagar -> Raffles Place -xover> City Hall -> Dhoby Ghaut -> Orchard -> Toa Payoh -> Bishan -> Ang Mo Kio (center track) -> Yishun
Airport Express :
Boon Lay -> Jurong East (EWL track) -> Bunoa Vista -> Otraum Park -> Tanjong Pagar -> Raffles Place -> City Hall -> Bugis -> Paya Lebar -> Bedok -> Tanah Merah (center track) -xover> Expo -> Changi Airport
My express service will be a loop service Raffles Place - Raffles Place Express
It will stop on all stops (Starting from Raffles Place) except Newton, Novena, Braddell, Yio Chu Kang, Khatib, Admiralty, Marsiling, Kranji, Bukit Gombak, Commonwealth, Queenstown and Tiong Bahru. On top of that, the only NSL station will not be via through is Marina Bay and in future, stations in Marina South Extension.
Note: It will use third track whenever possible, except Jurong East where it uses East West Line EB platform. Hence, the name should be North South East West Line. 10 C151 trains should be deployed for each of the direction.
For SB direction (Anti clockwise), basically, it uses Jurong East West bound platform before crossover to Bukit Batok. Also, in Ang Mo Kio, the doors will only open in the relevant side. (Such as LTE Ang Mo Kio)

Technically, it's a Circle Line!

Unfortunately the name has used already. I may come up some more in future as well.

The round line?
maybe the airport express service stated by sgbuses can start from woodlands?
But now there is a problem. The meaning of express here means stopping at the station without opening the doors. It cannot possibly travel all the way non-stop as it will affect the train infront.
I suggest "the South-Eastern line" . It starts from CGA and ends at MRB. It can serve the people in the East West and North South without transfering. EXPRESS
(First direction) The stations are CGA , TNM , BDK , PYL , LVR , BGS , CTH , RFP , OTP , QUE , BNV , CLE , JUR (crossover to current EWL to NSL crossover), BBT , CCK , KRJ , WDL , SBW , KTB , YCK , AMK , BSH , TAP , ORC , SOM , DBG and MRB
(Second direction) The stations are CGA , TNM , BDK , PYL , LVR , BGS , CTH , DBG , SOM , ORC , TAP , BSH , AMK , YCK , KTB , SBW , WDL , KRJ , CCK , BBT , JUR (crossover to current NSL to EWL crossover) , CLE , BNV , QUE , OTP , RFP
Frequency for direction 1 is 10 mins and direction 2 is 8 mins.
The next suggestion is the "rapid North-Eastern Line" . It starts from XPO and ends at YIS. It can serve the people in the North South and East West Line faster than the express one without transfering. RAPID EXPRESS
The stations are XPO , PYL , BGS , CTH , RDH , BNV , JUR (crossover to NSL) , CCK , KRJ , YIS.
Frequency is 15 mins.
The third suggestion will be starting from JKN to AMK , this service will stop at only 5 stations. Stations are JKN , JUR , KRJ , SBW and AMK. Now from JKN to AMK only takes 30 mins instead of the usual 1 hour.
Unless the train timings can be accurate, it is useless to use overtaking.
A late or early train could cause chrashing...don't overlook the fact that even "express trains" can be late.
BUT, creating new platforms would incur a too high cost.
It will not work out!
my suggestion is to create a western-singapore express from NS4/BP1 Choa Chu Kang toward EW29 Joo Koon/future tuas extension stations to relief the huge demand of transport from CCK to Boon Lay and the peak-hour rush of workers at tuas. Also,it supports the major feed of people travelling south-to-west changing at Jurong East Regional MRT Interchange.
NS4/BP1 Choa Chu Kang>NS3 Bukit Gombak>NS2 Bukit Batok>NS1/EW24 Jurong East(crossover towards EWL WB platform.)
NS1/ EW24 Jurong East>EW25 Chinese Garden>EW26 Lakeside>EW27 Boon Lay>EW28 Pioneer>EW29 Joo koon (Any Future Stations will not be listed)
And the route may follow Vice-Versa.
edit:i mant to say that the train service only operates during peak hours.

Spotted an error:
1: Chua Chu Kang is Choa Chu Kang, and it is BP1, not 4 (Which is Teck Whye)
Why not go Yew Tee as well?

Can, it can travel all the way non-stop, except
A) It may be slower if no stop at all
B) It will stop somewhere between stations instead (Now peak hour train can see such things)

Go Yew Tee got crossover but Choa Chu Kang got 2 crossover , easier to terminate.

thanks 4 the notice.error corrected.
All your suggestions make it very hard for "express", if you want to use whole new rail lines and trains. Theses suggestions are just gonna be stupidly building new tracks and platforms, using the same C1,C6,C7. It is very hard to be using the existing infrastructure I feel (So I would be working with new rail lines and platforms). Of course, I saw "suggestion and fantasy". However, if it were needed to be more realistic, then there should only be 2 lines, East West City Xpress and North South/City Express lines.
Only then, can you use trains that are faster, and really cut-down travel time efficiently. My suggestion would be:
EWE1 Tampines EWE2 Bedok EWE3 City Hall (int) EWE4 Buona Vista EWE5 Jurong East EWE7 Choa Chu Kang
NSC1 Bayfront NSC2 City Hall (int) NSC3 Orchard NSC4 Toa Payoh NSC5 Ang Mo Kio NSC6 Yishun NSC7 Woodlands
If possible, I would hope that EWE1 to EWE7 can reach within 23 mins, NSC1 to NSC7 within 17 mins. Of course, you might be concerned that the existing lines may be affected. Therefore, this would only be implemented in 3 train cars? more expensive definitely since it will be built to move fast, and also implemented only when there is severe overcrowding on existing lines. Stations mentioned above are what I believe to have high passenger demand along the lines...

1: Why EWE 4 @ Buona Vista? Was it due to Circle line int but I prefer Clementi
2: MRT now dont go to Bayfront, based on your NSC, it is a NSL express, so it is not feasible (Bayfront MRT station does not connect to EWL / NSL). Do you mean Marina Bay / South?

Buona Vista cos I feel it is not too near JRE. NSC I want to rename to NCE (North City Express), and Bayfront was chosen for the future to cater the the new CBD plus IR, and future developements around that area. Bayfront direct link to City Hall, faster link to high capacity/demand lines.

Unfortunately here there is a catch that must use existing infrastructure, such that NSL cannot go Bayfront at all...........

I saw another issue:
While it is possible for trains in Choa Chu Kang to crossover to EWL WB @ JUR, however, trains in Joo Koon (Or Tuas extension-ed terminus) that goes to JUR cannot crossover to middle platform, thus it cannot go NSL route. So it is not feasible. (Not the new platform please and the NSL - EWL crossover will result this proposed train collide in a Jurong bound train as there is no crossover until Bukit Gombak (Or after Batok?))

But i am sure there is a switchpoint further west right?reversing there should not be a plobrem.
