Trains forum
I heard it yesterday as well....
Yesterday's train was auto or manual? It seems like it was in manual mode. Even the annoucements were made manually.

It's on auto mode, just that they have to open the controls to play the message.
Double post - see below

Agreed.
The stupid thing is that they announce it manually instead of hiring the professional to record. That is just so low class lah....
wow, dat's smtg new.
do they announce for ppl not to lean on poles?
dat is y me hate taking buses & trains - full of uncouth & low class ppl.
the last time me topped up my card was when they changed to the new one.
Here's some suggestions to add to their persistent collection:
I agree that this announcement sounds so low class.
You can hear alot of distorted noises in the recording, and it sounds as if it's taken from a low quality HP recording.
I doubt it is a manual announcement, but rather recorded and then replayed over and over again.
If i am leaning against the door when the train is moving, will the train door suddenly open? I scare one day this will happen to our train. Is it safe to lean when the train is moving?

Nope, the train doors will not suddenly open while the train is moving.
This is because all of our MRT trains have a protection system whereby when the train doors are open, the train will not move even when the driver hits the accelerating button accidently.(Including driverless trains)
Like wised when the train is moving and the driver hits the door opening button accidently ,the doors will not open until the train stops.

Had a friend who leaned against a NEL train door once while the train was moving. The door opened slightly and the train jerked a little as if it detected the problem but it did not ebrake to a halt. My friend had a little shock and naturally stopped leaning against it. The door closed back by itself and everything resumed to normal as if nothing happened.
I personally saw this happen on BPLRT too on 2 Nov 1999 - The first day of opening (1 day before official opening) a woman leaned against the door and it opened slightly and the train jerked too.
I know it seems to sway from what linwei is asking but just sharing some experiences. I agree with you that doors cannot be opened via controls when in motion.
