SINGAPORE: A total of 309 commuters were caught eating and drinking in MRT stations and trains between July 15 and 24.
Operator SMRT says it issued 309 notification of offences in that period after it announced new rules which will see offenders fined outright instead of being warned first.
The fines range between S$30 and S$500.
SMRT says that parents of young children are advised to feed their children before boarding the MRT.
But if the need arises for them to feed their children while travelling on the MRT, they can approach station staff for assistance and necessary arrangements will be made.
This also applies to passengers who need to take medication.(!!!!)

People are advised to vomit first at toilets before boarding the MRT.
But if the need arises for people to vomit while travelling on the MRT, they can approach station staff for assistance and necessary arrangements will be made.
hope they will give free rides. then penalise the ppl who eat and drink

Why entirely?
Imagine this. You're on the MRT going out to meet your date. While on your way there, an ah pek beside you takes out his cai peng and starts munching on it. Suddenly the train jerks and his cai peng (with curry) flings out and ruin your new shoes.
The MRT staff are trying to prevent that from happening. Thought we might have to admit that they are a tad bit overboard in doing it. Besides that, what is so bad about trying to prevent the above scenario from happening?
eating sweet also cannot ah?
lol.
then pls close down all the f&b shops in the station.
In most mrt stations, you can find outlets selling food, drinks etc etc. If you dun want people to eat or drink inside the stations and trains, then y u rent out shops to these operators? Doesnt make sense......
And in harbour front mrt station, once you exit the fare gates, you can find a small little shop selling chicken rice.

Quite a lot of money.
300 x $250 (average fine) = $75,000
Pardon them, times are bad so they are finding ways and means to earn $$
Strange, they don't care about people smoking at the bus stops or less than 5 metres from the bus stops.
Those ppl so hard working !
